A client at work would like me to sell two Tiffany lamps for him. I have not seen the lamps and since I am not a Tiffany expert, I have told him to have them appraised (I don't want to chance selling something that's a fake or repo). In the meantime, I'm researching safe ways to ship Tiffany lamps. I would not attempt to package and sell these on my own. I expect to have the lamps within 1 to 2 weeks and he would like an idea on how I would intend to ship these items.

I normally do not deal in items of this much potential value and I'm nervous about it. Any shipping suggestions would be helpful. I do have a Mailboxes, etc. close by. Anyone had any experience with them?

Thanks, Tomiii, that's exactly what I thought. I've been giving it some more thought and I just may just consign them in my brother's antique shop. That way, their insurance will cover them should they get broken. I have teenagers running around my house. Kind of makes me nervous. I figured Mailboxes would be expensive.

let us know the ebay items number when you list,it would be a madhouse!!
make sure to cover your ass in case there are disputes and expect tons of questions from dealers.
professional dealers will point you to packers and shippers they use for such nice items.

Contact someone in your area that restors art objects or old lamps & ask for their shipping advice. Thet should know a professional that crates such items.

if these are really authentic lamps, tons of dealers will be bidding and one or two of them may just end up as high bidders.
they will tell you how and whom to use as shipper .

There's a 99.999% chance that these are not truly original Tiffany lamps, the ones worth 5 or 6 figures. They are most likely Tiffany "style" decorative items worth in the hundreds at best. Ask him if he has any Stradivarious violins lying around as well? Don't mean to be a spoilsport, but this is just a fact based on 40+ years experience. But, you never know, there is that .0001% chance, and if so, have a Merry Christmas.

IF they are really Tiffany's, I wouldn't bother with eBay, I would go to Sotheby's or someone like that. You are talking in the $50,000.00 & up price range. As far as packing that would be the least of my worries if they are real

thats right,if they are not the real things, you could be in trouble, but then the ebay bidders/aka.tiffany dealers would tell you on day 1.
a few years ago someone'aunt has a real lamp and it was bidded on by many pros,i believe it went for over 30k.
