Could anyone using the USPS Shipping Assistant please tell me what the blank "Address Service" is for? I realize it prints "Address Service Requested" on the label, but what does that mean the package will be forwarded or something? Thank you.

For a fee you can request that the Postal Service handle your mail differently in the event of an undeliverable mailpiece. That's what address service is.

The way the mail is handled depends on what class of mail it is.

For more information:

http://www.usps.com/businessmail101/addressing/specialAddress.htm

Check the fee schedule before you print Address Service Requested on your labels...you could end up paying quite a bit.

I looked at the website you provided fluffy and I think I will be okay this time. I had selected "Address Service Requested" which had printed out on the label and then I panicked and posted here. The site said the post office forwards first class mail at no additional charge. This was first class so I was okay. After this, I leave it unchecked! Thanks! Karen
