For quite a while now I've been wanting to add,or try adding music to some auctions.

But I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it, or where to get the tunes from.

I've been wandering around aimlessly on my own and tried different things but nothing seems to work.

Can somebody steer me in the right direction as to how this is done?

A great big THANKS in advance for any help!!

Please don't add music. That is one of top reasons to click on the BACK button and get away from the auction. Why in the world would I want to listen to cheesy sub-par version of a song? MIDI sucks.. don't use it.

I have to throw my vote in for "don't do it".

It slows up the whole auction page and I have a cable modem and new computer.

As soon as I see what is coming I click the back button and get out of the page as fast as I can.

"DON'T DO IT"

I'm not sure if I ever will.

Although when I hit one with a decent tune I kind of enjoy it.

But the thing is I need to learn how it's done, driving me nuts that I can't figure it out!

But one way or another I will.

Listen to the other posters. Music, cutesy animations, swirling cursors and all that other nonsense = find another seller, FAST!

The only time i wished I knew how to add music to an auction is when I'm listing a music box [or a cuckoo clock, or an item that talks or makes noise]. the sony mavica we have does make 15 seconds long little 'movies' with sound [i think they're mpg format?], and if I could learn how to present those easily into a listing, i would do it. Or something like, "click here to hear" ...

Keep in mind that a lot of people are accessing ebay through their jobs and the LAST THING THEY WANT IS MUSIC TO ALERT THEIR BOSSES. Plus those darned plugins are a nightmare for people who don't have broadband.

As soon as I hear music, I back out of the auction page RIGHT AWAY - you will lose more customers than you might gain. I don't care what the item is, I won't listen to it.

I do not use music, however there are a lot of sellers who do and it works like a charm for them.
What do you sell? That will make a big difference. Say if you where selling magic or novelty items this would work.
Fine china etc, this would be a turn off for most bidders.

I sell anything that will stand still long enough for me to get it in a box!

Thanks for your help, it got me looking in the right direction.

I started this post just to find out how to do it. I hate when I want to do something but have no idea how it's done.

Took me most of the night but I did it!
