I am so steaming upset. When I sell an item on ebay, I treat the bidder exactly the way I would like to be treated. Reply to emails within 24 hours, (usually alot sooner) Send items within 48 hours of receiving payment and email them within 24 hours to let them know item is on it's way, delivery confirm # and feedback had been left. and I have two jobs besides selling on ebay

I won an item from one of those POWER SELLERS who had over 700 positives 1 neg and a few neutrals for slow response, damaged merchandise etc. ok, date of closed auction: Nov 9th. They took paypal (afterthought, I should have used it, even though I hate it as a seller) I sent a MO as a courtesy from one seller to another. They received it and cashed it and SAID they sent the item out on Nov 28th. (Kind of long hold time for a US Postal Money order, dont you think?) Still havent received the item I won!

This POWER SELLER takes days (up to a week) to reply to emails. they said they only update feed backs a few times a month. GEEZ,

What do I do from here? Shall I give them a certain length of time to reply to my emails or I neg 'em? Then I may never get this thing for Christmas for my little boy Ask for a refund? I think I may do that.

Any ideas on this are GREATLY appreciated

You are between a rock and a hard place if you need this for Christmas. Can you get another one? If you can then I'd neg. This is way too long and the seller is unresponsive. Unfortunately if he's that dense he may not even realize he got a neg.

Hope you didn't pay a lot.

I'd hold off- You've got plenty of time to do a neg later. If for some reason he gets the package returned to him or actually hasn't shipped yet, you need to stay on his good side.

If you neg him NOW, and for some reason the package is returned to him (Maybe he addressed it wrong or the PO screwed up) he might decide to keep it.

I know in my case, if I get a neg, the transaction is OVER. DONE. I probably wouldn't even answer an e-mail. But of course I don't rip people off, so any Negs I get really aren't justified.

And if you still don't have the package by Christmas, you've got perfect "gift" for this seller

A solid Dec. 25th NEG Beats a chunk of coal in your stocking anytime!

November and December are a real problem sometimes for sellers. The percent of sales goes up yet most don't have the hands to fill orders as quickly as they should.

In our case this week we sent out several items three day select and absorbed the extra shipping so that customers have ample time to get their package for Christmas.

I would suggest just nagging a bit as the squeaky wheel sometimes gets oiled. (nag once a day). More than three weeks from the time you paid is certainly a little long but you might want to ask about the status of your order again and tell them you are worried about not getting the item prior to Christmas. It's possible there's a glitch in the processing or they are out of stock and waiting for a replacement or shipping supplies.

Lots of customers and sellers get stressed this time of year. Relax, enjoy your holiday and give them grief after the holiday if they didn't produce.

If the item is insured the Post Office will not do anything untill 30 days after the package was sent. If it was a hard to find or expensive item I would assume you have insurance. I have had many items show up close to that 30 days.

You said the auction closed Nov 9th and the item was mailed Nov 28th. To say that was to long depends on when did you mail the money order and more important when did the seller recieve it?

Most sellers do not leave feedback untill the buyer leaves it or have been emailed that the item arrived and buyer is satisfied. They are not going to leave it for you when you are complaining about a late package.

toolhound, then I must be a really stupid seller because I leave feedback as soon as I come back from the post office from mailing their item. I also send an email at that time to let the buyer know that it is on it's way. I have almost 200 positives with no negs (so far, that could change after this ordeal is over with)

I checked the feedback they had left for other buyers. They havent left anything since the beginning of November.

I just don't get it. Why sellers sell large amounts they can't handle. When I have large amounts of auctions closing and need help packing & shipping, I always find the help. For me the transaction not only involves the auction listing but also the communication between buyer and seller and prompt shipping, feedback etc. Maybe that is why I am not a power seller. Takes too much time. I have a family, two jobs etc etc

Well, I took your advise. I sent another email on Dec 12th. No reply at all. I checked his feedback again Thoroughly this time. 8 nuetrals and 3 negatives. Of course this is a power seller with 740 positives so these bad marks shouldnt effect him at all. the negs etc are for: Not reponding to emails and no items received, sloppy packaging, item received damaged. The most recent neg or neutral was back in July and all the rest are postives. You think that they would have learned by now.

Should I keep the sqeaky wheel approach or what? Any thoughts here ? Who else can I contact in regards to this or am I on my own on this one?

That is the typical powerseller you have run into. Hope you have learned a lesson about bidding on one of their items.

stonecold,

I am sure that many other powersellers would join me in taking offense to your statement. There are plenty of great powersellers out there. If you check feedback of the powersellers, you can easily tell which ones are good and which ones are not.

Paloma,

To help with your problem... it would help if we had a more complete timeline. While you sent your MO on the 9th of Nov... do you know when the seller received it? (mail does travel slower this time of year). Some suggestions:

1) Keep e-mailing the seller until you receive a response. (2 business days isn't completely unreasonable for a response... but it is a little slow...) Hopefully you'll hear from him by the end of Monday.

2) You seem to be putting a lot of emphasis on the feedback aspect of the transaction. Don't forget that feedback is an OPTIONAL part of an ebay transaction. It may not be a priority for this seller, and any feedback the seller leaves may be just a courtesy to his buyers.

3) Wait for your package to arrive. A package sent on the 28th could certainly be stuck somewhere in the USPS system. Hopefully it will turn up.

4) Don't leave feedback until the last possible moment. As a bidder who has already paid for the item, it is really your only leverage.

Anyhow... I hope these suggestions help. I know that playing the waiting game is difficult... but it is possible the seller has been doing everything he can for you. Keep us posted, and I hope you hear from him soon and/or receive your package shortly.
