My Ebay ID username was my email addy.
I changed my email address today, thinking my user name would stay the same which I hoped for.
But when I went to my ebay I had shades and a new user name.
I thought ebay was doing away with addresses for ID's.
Didn't think they would update that too.
I didn't want my user ID to change just my contact info.
Now I'm thinking I should just go in and change my ID to just plain (Dadofstickboy)
What do you think, would that be better?
Then I'll never have to worry about my ID changing again.

I would go with just plain dadofstickboy. If you keep the old one people will try to email you to an invalid email address, and if you're going to put up with shades anyway you may as well not even use an email address as your ID.
just my 2 cents.

If you have a particular userid in mind (because it's a terrific way to refer to your business), it's best to go register it NOW.

I'm slightly disappointed that I didn't think to nail down several variations on my prime userid.

You might be surprised at some of the userids that are already taken. I just made a list of five userids I might want to reserve; two were already taken, and one was kinda silly: mycatmademetypethis.

That's a good point too. When I registered 3 years ago there were a bunch that I wanted that were already taken - hulagirl, hulagal, huladancer. etc etc. Now I'm thinking I should change to one that more fits my items that I sell, but it's too late - I have repeat customers because my name is easy to remember (and of course the fantastic customer service )

My particular one was my original.
I've had a good following now they need to get used to a new name.
But when I changed email address.
My ID did too.
Didn't think that would happen.

Tom:
You changed your email, and your ID didn't change.
BUT was your ID ever the same as your email address?

If your e-mail was part of your user name last time, yes your user ID will change each time you change your e-mail.

dadofstickboy, contact someone in Support at ebay and tell them what happened and that you only want dadofstickboy as an ID and they may change it for you. They were kind enough to do that for me one time instead of making me wait 30 days again to change it.

How do you register for a new id with eBay? I tried to register with a brand new email address and it told me that I was already registered! I even tried to use my middle name thinking it was tied to my name and it didn't work..do you have to lie about your address?

But I'd like to keep my present id and add another..is there a way to do that..without lying about name address etc?

neglus: You have to specify a different email address than the one you currently have registered.

I have an infinite number of addresses available, since I own my own domain.

neglus: Seems unlikely, since I have more than a dozen eBay ids registered now, 6 with my P.O. box and 6 with my street address.

I have no idea what you're doing wrong.
