About 3 months ago, I bought a placrard of Original 1964 pins. There were 100 pins in about 40 different designs. I got them for $81. Last week, I started selling the individual pins ($9.99 start). The guy I out bid has so far bought one of every design except for one which went for a lot more (it was a popular sport). Should I feel guilty for out bidding this guy and then turning a 500% profit at his expense?
NA!

NO Guilt, No Way...did you purchase them on ebay or brick and mortar sale?
either way, good score.

The only time I have ever felt even the slightest twinge of quilt was when an item sold for more than it was worth because of a bidding war (remember bidding wars? Sigh). But, even that was oh so temporary. I once sold a postcard of American Indians (taken in the 1930's) for over $100 because four people wanted it. I started it out at $5.99. Whatever happened to those days?
Anyway, congrats on your wise bidding and profitable sale! You have nothing to feel guilty about!

Nope, Nice Ebay buy. It was listed under Olympic Collectables. Mass lots tend to get WAY underbid. It was listed as having 64 pins, but there were in fact 100... Guess the seller couldn't count. It was a nice suprise. I think I will send my buyer an Email and offer him one of everything for $7. He is a good regular bidder.

Why in Hxxx would you feel guilty? Do you think for one minute that if things were reversed, that he would feel guilty? That is all part of bidding on an auction.

NBC had several pins in Seoul 1988. The most common one had the turkey (peacock) and the rings, and was dated. It would ebay at about $5 (if you were luckey). Some would go for a LOT more. If you want, you can scan it and send the pic to me at Dejapooh(at)aol.com. In fact, anyone can find out a guess of value on an olympic thingy by scanning it and sending me the pic. BTW, great thing about pins is they usually scan great. Just drop them face down on the scanner and scan away.

Why would anyone feel guilty for making a good profit on an item? If it makes you feel guilty to make easy money selling on ebay go get a job flipping burgers so you won't feel guilty.

Are you kidding? Do you know what is IN a hamburger? I would rather feed my kids pure lard. It is more honest, and just as healthful.

Feelings of guilt could probably be addressed in therapy. I suspect posting here is more about bragging than torments of the soul.
In any event, the original bidder may have just forgotten about raising their bid, couldn't decide whether they wanted them, etc. Since these are not necessities of life, there is not always rational thinking behind their purchase. For all we know, the purchaser may simply find their hobby more entertaining when they buy things one at a time.

Ya, I guess you are probably right. Who else has had killer Ebay buys (to be later resold).
