I got an e-mail from a buyer saying they were giving me a courtesy e-mail to let me know they will be giving me a negative. They have all of 17 feedbacks so they are pretty new to this game. they bought a used sweater from me and the e-mail makes it sound like when they got it- and it was the biggest piece of trash ever. There was nothing wrong with the sweater and it looked like new. Must not have fit her or something anyways.. I had several clear pictures of the sweater and a wonderfully accurate description of it with measurements. They took almost two weeks from end of auction to pay and then they pull this crap. I haven't had a neutral or a negative in over a year. I figure I can take it.

I told them -- JUST BRING IT ON!

It sounds to me like a subtle attempt at feedback extortion. I bet they were expecting you to offer a full refund including shipping for their case of buyers remorse. Your response probably wrecked their whole plan. You will probably be getting another email from them trying a different approach. Stay tuned....

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

One question, did you already leave feedback?

I just got a neutral from some bozo that says "Not what I expected. Size is smaller/but good quality item". Never even got a notice from them. All items have a note sent with them stating if not happy for any reason, just let me know and I will take care of it. They even posted a reply to my feedback stating "Nice item. Fast delivery!", go figure...

I am beginning to think this feedback thing is way overrated and buyers must not pay that much attention to it..case in point...ME..as an eBay buyer...I recently bought some jewelry from a seller with over 2200 negatives and 50 in the last week (of course the positives were over 66,000) and exorbitant shipping charges..no returns...I knew this going in but the items were cheap even with the s/h so went ahead and bid... once received I found that the items were lovely and exactly what I expected when I bid...the seller has about a 100% sales rate which means that over 2,000 buyers a week are choosing not to fret about the feedback when bidding if they can get what they want for a good price....I think if you are doing a decent volume the occasional neg is inevitable and says more about the buyer than the seller...and remember it says NOTHING about you as a person! You can't please all of the people all of the time!

My favorite is when I get an email from someone who states that I have a bunch of negatives, and thinks I'm a crook though they never bought from me. I have 12 negs vs. 2091 positives (2 of which were honest mistakes on my part- the remaining 10 are mostly retaliatory or people who put a neg w/o ever attempting to email me to resolve a problem).

Anyhow, I figured out my rating percentage, and it is 99.4% positive. Yet, I'm a crook. LOL!!!! Goes to show people don't understand that 12 negs are not necessarily bad. I wish I could prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the majority of negs were retaliatory. Unfortunately, I consider the items I sell as medium to high risk for immature buyers who can't take their medicine for something they had complete control over.

I believe ebay needs to start removing negs from buyers who have been suspended or closed their accounts b/c they started a trend of non-payments. Same thing should go for deadbeat sellers. They are the ones that make us look bad. This would be a good start to providing solid service. Ebay needs to understand that it's their sellers and buyers who make everything possible, not their shareholders.

Hey neglus, I thought you were talking about ME until I saw the feedback numbers. No way do I have 2200 negs yet. Maybe someday, if I'm lucky.

Oh, I see who your seller is. Amazing that she does that volume with terms as restrictive as that ("no mailed-in payments". Awesome.

Yeah Fluffy..looks like she has this thing down to a science! I emailed her to suggest that it would be a nice touch to send items USPS Priority when one pays $82 s/h ($ 4.95 vs 3.98 First Class ) but I didn't get an answer LOL..she's no fool...to quote the words from one of my favorite songs in Evita..."and the money keeps rolling in.."

Waitaminute, neglus: she sent all 22 of your items in one package and it wasn't Priority?

Geez, what was it, just a padded bag with your 22 items tossed into it?

You got it Fluffy - a padded bag with a couple of boxes (not the fancy jewelry boxes mind you) sent USPS insured(my option )though she did do tracking...she didn't promise more...I'd say that at least 1,000 of her negs are undeserved..items were as advertised and terms were as advertised...I have no complaints but it sure has me rethinking all the hoops I've gone through to assure buyer satisfaction!
