Has anyone else seen this? Maybe it's been discussed but I didn't see it.
There's a company called Advertical that is selling eBay banner ads (presumably under contract from eBay). The cheapest deal is 250,000 impressions for a starting bid of $25.
I was a little amused at the idea of auctioning something that is virtually unlimited, i.e. eBay page views. My guess is that in some categories you could go through 250,000 page views in one day. Oh, and they're also selling banner ads that would span all of eBay. Talk about a scattershot approach!
Last year a company called AdVariant offered free banner ads for PowerSellers. We had two of these 30-day ad exposures but neither one generated even a single sale.

Heh-heh. Some of their bidders don't, either.
Wouldn't it be great if we sellers could band together as a co-op to negotiate a discount on banner ads?
