Hello,

Unfortunately, a dear friend passed away suddenly on Tuesday. Her husband asked me to close her Ebay account, but I don't have her password. She recently sold several items and I've contacted those individuals. Do you know how I can contact Ebay regarding this matter. Thank you in advance for your help.

kliggin,

Although you may be legit, it is exactly the sort of thing a scammer would ask. oantact Ebay and be prepared to give physical proof of her death. Her husband will be the one who'll lkiely have to handle it, since leaglly, you are not privy to her financial accounts.

The red flag raised immediately upon reading your post is that if you are not experienced at Ebay, how did you know enough about this Ebay board to post here?

Like I said, you may be legit. Contact Ebay. You'll likely need a death certificate and personal info that I don't think the husband should give you.

if you can read her email..then just click on the "forgot" password link when you sign into her account...you should get an email with the password or how to make a new one.

In reality if this person really has departed. She would not be selling. You have contacted the last buyers? There is really nothing further to do. That page will remain (as long as E bay remains) It will just never be used by the departed again. I have had buyers depart on me. Their page is still there. Once I was notified by his wife. There has never been any activty there since. Hundreds, Thousands pass...it's just life and ,,,,,on e bay. Some would Neg them,,,,,never knowing.....life and death,,,it just goes on.....If,,,,,,,she did leave a me page,,,,,You could leave a eulogy to them. Not many would ever read it, but,,,,,the facts would be known....after the remaining buyers are gone,,,,,,,so be the sellers knowance....R.I.P. She made it to e bay,,,,,What more to say? Amen......

kiddo2,
you cannot read anyone 's email to gleam inti her ebay password-
first are the two of you on the same internet service provider?if one is on aol and the other on earthlink, you need her ISP software installed on your pc.
then you need her password to get into her account and read her email.
by the way billpoint is now officially history.
ebay is pay as you list,so if she is not listing, there is no fee involved, altho she still have to pay her past dues.or rather hubby has to.

I agree with Fetish. I assumed the woman may have had a bunch of auctions running that might need to be ended. If she has money sitting in Paypal, that is another thing to check.

As others earlier have said, as long as the winning bidders on the last auctions are taken care of, then nothing else needs to be done. The account will just remain open, but inactive. Who knows, within a few years eBay might send out an email, and if there is no reply, close the account themselves.

I don't think you need the others ISP to read their email, though. When I went to France I had a friend check my email for me on my yahoo account while I was gone. All I needed to give her was my password and she could access it from her computer. For that matter when I was there we went to an internet cafe and I checked my email once a day from there too (wow, what an ebay addict I am).
