Does anyone know about the service that PAYPAL offers, their BUYER PROTECTION. I saw the option when I purchased an item but am wondering if it is worth anything? has anyone here used it?

you can go to their website and read all about it.

Of course I can go to their website and read about it; I'm sure there are plenty of answers for the questions that are asked here at other sites.

However, *MY* question was; has anyone here used it and is it worthwhile.

i bot some coins and they never arrive.seller showed me the usps postal receipt showing it was shipped to my zip code .
i filed paypal complaint and the seller does not have online trackable dc ,so paypal refunded my purchase.
usps postal receipt is not an online trackable delivery confirmation.
i never get my coins.

Have not used it and not sure why one would. There is already a built in buyer protection isn't there? If the seller cannot prove that the item was recieved can't you get your money back? Also, pay through Paypal but force a credit card sale and then you have the cc charge back option too. Guess I did not answer your question, either. Sorry.

How difficult is it to use a credit card on PP when you have a balance on hand already in PP? I always use the PP balance. I wish there wasa way to easily only use credit cards on PP and ignore the balance. PP may intentionally make it difficult to gather PP Protection sales.

just transfer your papypal balance to your bank account and then use your cc as payment method.

auctionace, on the payment page for PP you can select dource of funds. The default shown is PP balance, but you can select another source.

We can #*!@ and moan about PP making it difficult to use a CC when you have a balance, but like most other complaints it just isn't true.

Funding source is always there as an option on the confirmation page.

Paypal will refund you whatever money they can recover from the seller. When it's a fraudulent seller the recovered amount is usually somewhere between zilch & zero.

funding source may be there, but it wont work if you have paypal fund.
that was my experience ,but it has been a while.
when buyer files complaint, paypal will lock up the seller fund and investigate.
if the seller has no fund, then paypal will say sorry.
then you will need to go to your credit card issuer and file chargeback.

Capotasta - if you have a balance in your account PayPal AUTOMATICALLY uses the balance first. It only accesses your funding source if the payment you are sending is more than your balance. You cannot opt out of that procedure. If you want to use your credit card exclusively, you must "empty out" your payPal acount. This is the reason that I keep two PayPal accounts. One for selling and one for buying.

Yeah - I assume you are talking about the Money Back Gaurantee you can purchase, is useful if you are worried about the QUALITY of the product. I have not ued it in the past but would probably seriously consider it if I was purchasing an iffy item like used electronics.

Thanks neonmania! That's the only really sensible solution. Two seperate accounts.
