ebay's "new format" is showing up on all of our auctions this afternoon ... i don't like it ... looks plain and boring for what info is there ........ but, i have a question for those of you that use Vendio to do up your ebay listings ... i was checking this new layout on one of my local friend's auctions and he just lists his stuff right thru ebay [rather than vendio].. on HIS listings, at the top of the page on the left is one photo of the item .... on mine there are not [makes no diff if i have it as a gallery photo auction item or not]... i have no photo on top of page ... what should i do differently at vendio to make a picture show up there ... anyone know? ... thanks ...

Sad, but true..... You have to use eBay's Ipix picture program to get your picture up there. So unfair. Not Vendio's fault, but because of their lay-out buyers must scroll way down to see ad. Some won't bother if they don't see a pic on top. eBay.... you will not blackmail me. I will stick with Vendio. NOT FAIR. Ugliest, most confusing page some idiot "graphic designer" could come up with.

Yeah, MANY things are screwed up now in my auctions. A BIG one is my shipping information! GONE!

Don't like it either....

One thing, it may get people to use their I Pix.... I'll keep using my own FTP, thanks

Well I tried to go in an revise to upload a pic to ipix and couldn't. Not only could I not make that revision, but for whatever reason revising isn't working--it won't let me save my changes.

What a giant pain in the ass.

Both ebaY and Vendio are likely to get earfuls.

But if you use one iPix then you can at least get a picture at the top.
Trying to make lemonade here...

The new layout seems ok except that there is no link to check the buyer's feedback record.

The bidder's feedback rating is right by his name and a simply click on the number gets the total feedback rating. That's how it was before too.

Can't jump ship "aintrichyet"..... Paid in advance. Can only hope Vendio comes up with a solution to get a pic up there. Heard a rumor could be done. There is an auction manager out there that is doing just that. Really hope so. Big ugly white space in middle..... NOT attractive.

Hate to ask Le Question Stupide...but what about just one pix? It seems like a nice way to get a persons attention, and it seems bigger than the old little thing that used to be up?

The photo setup works perfect for me. I use the free iPix photo and the other photos, including a repeat of the free photo are from my own image hoster. If iPix goes down then I still have every photo there via my image hoster and if my image hoster goes down I still have the free iPix photo running.

I like the fact that at the EOA I can print out all the info on one page again.
For years I printed out all the auctions for my records.
Then I quit when it started taking 2 or 3 pages.

Ace, there's no buyer feedback number to click in fixed price listings. I hope they fix that.

I have some closed Fixed Priced auctions where the winner and feedback number is there and one that doesn't even have the winning bidder at all. There must be some glitches.

I've been away for a few days and I come back to this... YUK! is right! Is it only Vendio users who have the top picture excluded from the listing? A friend of mine uses Inkfrog
and his listings look OK...great infact.
I don't like the "bid now" button either...I think it is inviting alot of people to bid before reading the auction terms and there was already enough of that with the old format.

No Picture. If you click for info on shipping it takes it straight to the bottom where mine is NOT. For some reason it also shows that I don' take paypal, which I do. Have to figure that out. Anyway, Vd does not look good. Pooh

Yes it is too bad that eBay wants to force sellers to use their IPIX service.

However, fact is (in my opinion) it is an inferior picture service, and I for one would never use it.

Also, I do not think it is any advantage whatsoever that when you use IPIX and your picture appears at the top, then you click on the picture and it skips right over the meat of your auction -- the description, going to the photos which are usually at the bottom, so the bidder has to scroll up again just to read the thing. That's just dumb. So I wouldn't even revise my auction to get one of my photos in the IPIX slot, I don't like how that works at all.

I think bidders will realize very quickly that it really is not very far to scroll down to the description AND photos together, and if you are presenting your auctions very clearly & professionally with good photos, I doubt the new look will hinder bidding.

When I set up my Vendio auctions I was using template #9 the last few months, it gave a nice clean look, easy to read, with photos on the right hand side.

Now though I think I'll switch to either templates #11, 16, or 17. They all have a very clean look for the bidder, and the photos appear on the left, so you have a nice large photo right there as soon as any bidder scrolls down a bit.

The reason I choose those ones is that they accomodate multiple photos, most of the other templates have either too dark backgrounds, or are set up so that only 3 photos will appear at top, then any extra ones jump down & appear AFTER your description.

Of the ones I like, I think Vendio templates #11 (light brown background) and #16 (light blue background) would be most visually pleasing to bidders.

Just my opinion, but I don't foresee any real impact on bids for my auctions.

Come to think of it the Andale users only are posting it's ugly but are having no problems with the photos.

Am I losing my mind? Seems I recall (when eBay was "testing" their new format), there was a statement right at the top that said something about a bid being a contract and buyers were expected to pay. I thought that was a good idea...but this statement seems to be missing from the new format. Anyone else remember this? I do wish they would have kept that statement there right at the top of the auction and wonder why they removed it.

I finally read this thread and then looked at one of my listings.

inot--the Place Bid Button at the start of the listing really is bad news!!

If you are hosting your own pics and know HTML--add the main pic at the top/start of your description --not the middle or end. Then you have a nice big pic at the start of your listing.

I guess if you are going to make crap changes to your site--Summer Slump time is when you should do it. It's slow anyway.

The new design layout is real rinky-dink.

Then again, I expected this from
FeeBay. They really need to re-think
this one.

Congratulations, eBay. (Grrrrr)

I agree, I don't like the new format. It's too busy, and I don't use ipix. I do list all my auctions manually though, so I have started using ipix. But what I did was make one standard graphic. It says "Shop with Confidence from (myusername)! and then has a reminder to visit my ebay store. I can just leave this image on and the form rememebers it from one auction to the next. Works for me, but I still don't like the new format.

The Vendio Services Forum (down below this Ebay Outlook) also has a thread running about this - Vendio says they will have a game plan and time table to announce later today...hopefully it will be a SOLUTION or at least a patch!
