Why didnt ebay shut this guy down before he bid on my auction??? I guess it's not automatic. or is it? OR does someone have to say something to the ebay gods for something to be done??? grumble grumble

Your overall feedback rating has to be minus-4; essentially, four more negatives from unique users than positives from unique users. In this case, the bidder would need 63 positives and 67 negatives before they were NARU and even then, someone has to point this out to eBay. The three-strikes NPB, however, is automatic.

It shows how many ebay sellers won't jump through the hoops to file NPB reports yet will take the few seconds it takes to give a negative feedback. The NPBs will hurt much more than any negative yet the process is so long and arcane that few sellers do it.

The NPB policy is a total farce. First you have to send a warning x days after the auction ends, then wait y days to request the NPB proper. And then of course you eat the listing fees in the process.
Ebay's hoping you'll either forget or give up. >:

It's way too slow. Buyers should be given a drop dead date of, say 21 days after end of auction. No payment - click. Instant NPB, full fee refund (listing and sales), and on the 3rd NPB ebay should suspend all accounts that can be traced to that user.
I've played this game 100 too many times and am sick of the nonsense.
And that BIN w/instant payment is a super idea. If you don't pay you don't play, just like with any other legit website.
I've had a few BINs ended with deadbeats and they held up my sales for almost 4 weeks playing games waiting for payment.

And then the NPB slaps you right back in the face with a neg! Exclaiming, FRAUD!!!!! NEVER SENT ANYTHING!!!!!! RIPPED ME OFF!!!! WATCH OUT FOR THIS CROOK!!!!! Yes,it's a total joke. NPB' should have NO way of giving ANY feed back! click that button on the bottom of the final step in the drawn out process,,,,,,,,Block bidder and it should serve to block any feed back also!!!!!
E aby,,,,what is the point in letting a NON payers say anything!!!!! We jump through your 20 days of b.s. hoops, YOU know they never paid, Stop NON paying bidder from leaving Feedback!!!!!!!
Do you want a bunch of Honest sellers riddled from losers? Those losers make e bay NOTHING!!!!! Sellers fill your pockets. Give us some Defense!!!!!
Let me say it LOUD AND CLEAR, SELLERS MAKE E BAY MONEY NOT SOME NON PAYING BIDDER!!!!!!

I started a thread about the 3 day notice from eBay that appears on your item sold area. If you use that on all of your buyers then in 5 days after you send that if you feel you need to start the NPB you can. That is 8 days. Many are against that but I can't see much wrong with that only that the buyers will get a notice to pay in 3 days where some seller wait until about a week to send their first reminder notice. By using this notice you have a record of when you can file for your NPB, I think the 3 day notice is a good thing as some buyers claim that they never receive your EOA notice from your ISP. Well this notice is from eBay and then you get a copy of it. Let them get out of that.

The notices from ebay are strongly worded and scare the crap out of most bidders. They should not be used lightly.

Sorry Ace, I just did the 3rd. step a second ago and there was nothing said that would scare the crap out of me even if I had EVERY intention to pay. It was all very la de dah,,,,please and thank you's. We are just here to TRY and help. Nothing threatening in the least. If I were a non paying bidder it tells me, if I don't get paid tough for me. E bay never mentions anything like yer can will be thrown off if you don't pay!!!!! much time has passed and the seller is free to do whatever he pleases and WE, e bay will STILL get paid!.......

Ebay notices are nicely and strongly worded. I sent out seven to ONE bidder yesterday after three weeks two invoices and one personal email still not a word. then I wait 10 days and resubmit and it is difficult to wade though all the BS and get Ebay to do what it should. NOTE I have put a lot of Ebay functions in Favorites so I can cut through the cra!. This procress cost me about $7.00 in fees and 6.00 in labor. ( I don't work for free)
However all that said, that is what needs to be done to protect myself, My funds, and other good sellers and buyer.
Thank you for your winning bid/purchase. Please contact the seller for payment information as soon as possible. Remember: your winning bid/purchase is a binding contract to purchase this item.
This item's results, including email addresses of the seller, are available for 30 days in My eBay and at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/blah blah blah
Congratulations!

Nothing scary there and the reminder works really well for me when my bidders drop out of sight after the auction. I send it about a week after the auction ends and if they don't contact me 2 days after that reminder, I do the NPB alert.

Aren't there two letters that get sent out to NPBs? A mild alert letter and then a stern letter on the final warning?
Whatever, they work most of the time.

The first letter I copied is the Payment Reminder that you find on the My eBay page where your list of Sold items is. Bidders seem to pay more heed to that one than one direct from the seller.
If no response and you file NPB this is what it looks like.
Dear anxiousseller:
This is a copy of the translated message sent to the bidder.
Dear deadbeatbidder,
Congratulations on your winning bid for eBay item blah, blah, blah. Your seller, anxiousseller, has informed eBay that your payment hasn't been received yet.
If you have already sent payment or intend to pay soon, please contact anxiousseller at [email protected] immediately. Simple misunderstandings are often resolved through direct communication.
** Do not reply to this email. All you need to do is contact your seller.**
If you have been unsuccessful contacting the seller via email, you are welcome to contact them by phone if needed. eBay allows all members involved in a transaction to request each others' contact information, including phone numbers. This feature can be accessed through the following URL:
http://cgi3.ebay.com/ blah, blah, blah.
You and your seller are encouraged to work things out in the next 10 days. If this situation is resolved during this time, the matter is dropped and you do not need to take any further action.
If, however, your seller is still unsatisfied after this period, you may receive a Non-Paying Bidder (NPB) warning from eBay. Once you obtain three warnings on your record your account will be suspended indefinitely.
For additional details about eBay's Non-Paying Bidder Policy go to:
Please note that eBay does not take the side of the buyer or seller -- understand that we are only trying to help you and your seller trade successfully. Remember: Your seller is under no obligation to "hold" your item since much time has already passed.
Regards,
eBay Safeharbor Team

That one isn't scary either as many don't seem to be concerned at all. They seem to think they are safe as ebay "does not take the side of the buyer or seller".
Not sure what the e-mail to the bidder looks like when the seller files for his final fees. Or what the one looks like when a bidder gets the boot. Maybe this:

You know I have a feeling they don't bother saying aything to them as they are a loser of money for e bay too. They are NO longer on e bay so who would they, ebay, be talking to? No one......boot and that's it!!!! OUT!!! End of conversation. 3 strikes, loser!

This paragraph has to have some effect
If, however, your seller is still unsatisfied after this period, you may receive a Non-Paying Bidder (NPB) warning from eBay. Once you obtain three warnings on your record your account will be suspended indefinitely.
ebay could change the "you may receive" to "you will receive" to make it less iffy.

Sadly for newer sellers Ebay makes it difficult and confusing for them to initiate the non paying bidder process.
Especially for those that do everything on the ebay site and don't use 3rd party software after 30 days that sold but unpaid auction disappear off of your "My Ebay" page.
My ENTIRE first 2 years of selling I was lost/confused/intimidated/frustraded when I tried to find the places to get my FVF back and almost always ended up forfeiting it.
Ebay does not make it easy.....
All those simple links at the bottom of the MY EBAY page are relatively NEW....
So those sellers can only resort to a simple NEG and a dead beat lasts longer on Ebay.
