I just received an email stating that my auction was ended and removed due to a complaint by a VeRo member. This was a Kate Spade handbag which I bought at a yard sale. I listed it as used. The email gives no reason for ending auction. I went into the guidelines and they are hard to follow; made no sense. I did not call it authenic because I could not verify that it was. Do you think they think it is counterfeit? If so, why couldn't they just tell me that? I have seen used Kate Spade items listed so I am perplexed. Any ideas as to what I did wrong would be appreciated.

they have a vero member with a me page, you can email her and ask her why??
from what i understand, they can kill your auction without ebay approval and you can either prove your item by mailing it to their office and let them examine it or file a lawsuit against them

Sure wish I knew something to help you..I came up against this a couple of months ago, along with a few other auctions getting pulled. I obviously have a "watcher".
I tried to email the contact address in the Vero email and it bounced back. The item in question was an Alman Bros. CD..used, perfectly legit as far as I could tell. I didn't go any further with it because it just wasn't worth spending the time on.
The other auctions were for some raunchy old (60's) adult humor magazines of which there are, at any given time, 50-75 other listings for. It was very frustrating! I don't think I have any recourse though..technically they *are* against ebay rules. Just very unfair that the others are allowed to run. Actually, I know how to word them differently, but I'm afraid to relist them in case my little "friend" reports them again and I get suspended.
I feel your pain..and will be watching this thread with great interest.

Maybe your Kate Spade wasn't authentic. If you purchased it at a yard sale and you had no proof of authenticity then they will pull it. Kate Spade is one of the purses that are duplicated and sold in the markets in New York. In Milwaukee they uncovered women having house parties that went to this market and bought all kinds of fakes and then sold them. I would think if you purchased this yourself and knew it was the real thing then it would be okay.

Which is exactly as it should be.
Sellers have to take some responsibility for what they're selling, not virtually stand there with a dumb look. "Real? Uh, I dunno. You be the judge."
I am not a bathtub full of brightly-colored machine tools on Vendio.

Thanks for responding. I got it at a yardsale in a very upscale neighborhood that had some very nice stuff. Seller said it was a birthday gift, just not her style so she never used it. I didn't question her---looked real to me. Anyway, it is real cute so I can always keep it. Just my pride is hurt, I guess. I feel like I have been chastised (and I guess I have!) I think I will stick to my small collectibles; I seem to know more about them.

I think that is smart. Not selling your small collectibles but something as a Kate Spade purse or a Louie Vittone (sp) is taking a chance. Even if you bought it in an upscale neighborhood doesn't mean it is real. I can't imagine anyone not wanting a Kate Spade purse and just to sell it in a yard sale is to be questioned. That person could have done a re-gift and given it to someone who wanted it. Re-gifting is quite in and I wouldn't hesitate a moment if I received a gift I could not use to give it to someone who would want it.

It may be too late for this item.... unless you can get the Kate Spade people to respond and authenticate your item....yeah right!!
Whatever you do do not re-list it!!!
You will be NARU faster than a dead beat aol newbie on speed.....
Anyways if you find what you think is a designer original look inside the bag there will be other authentication markings, many hard-core designer stuff are actually numbered.
Take a close up photo of the sewn in tag, on the inside turning the bag nearly inside out. Prove you have an original basically.
DO NOT EVER CLAIM YOU THINK IT MIGHT BE in any auction for expensive designer stuff. Prove it!!
ALL of the hard core design houses like Chanel, Prada, Gucci etc have full time employees who do absolutely nothing but surf the net to hunt for fakes. They hit Ebay daily....
You can also take the bag to a Nordstroms, Macy's or Saks and have one of those snooty wenches who know everything about a given designers collections and ask them if they are real. Get back up details like the "2001 Spring Floral Collection"
Good Luck

LOL Lovepotions,
My sister likes the XOXO (Louis Vuitton) purses. She told me she went into either Nordstroms or Macy's up in NJ and asked the sales clerk where they were, and she summarily got dismissed with a " We dont sell those here!" Talk about snooty.....lol... I told her I'd look for her on Ebay!
