I'm being wishy washy and undecided (as well as redundant!) about what feedback to leave this seller.

Here's the story. I won a "lot" auction from a wholesaler. I paid by PayPal the day the auction closed. I get an e-mail thanking me for my payment, and a link to the AuctionWorks website so I can follow its progress. Eight days later, my order still showed as pending. I e-mailed the seller, and they replied that it would be sent "tomorrow" and that there had been a confusion in their stock. I waited two days (which was the day after their promised ship date) and it still showed as not being shipped. I e-mailed them again and asked for the tracking number since AuctionWorks wasn't giving me one. I finally got an e-mail with the tracking number, so I should get it soon.

My question is.....what feedback should I leave for the slow shipping? Their feedback is almost 2,500 with a lot of positives making a special note of the fast shipping (but also some negs for "out of stock" or slow shipping). Because of the many "fast shipping" positives, I feel like I either slipped through the cracks or they had to wait for more stock to fill my order. BTW they've already given me a glowing positive for my quick payment.

I very much appreciate your help! Almost all of my buying experiences are good ones, and that's why I kind of agonize over what to do with the not-so-good ones!

if you are anxious to get the goods for resale, you should let them know you intend to resell them, and they will expedite the shipment.

I'd wait to see the merchandise. If it's as you ordered, THEN I'd leave a neutral. Something like Merchandise as ordered, deliver very slow.

I agree...wait until you get the goods, make sure it is satisfactory, then leave a neutral for slow shipping.

Be careful, some sellers won't sell again to a buyer that is trigger happy. If you like what you bought just worry about selling it and move on. In a couple weeks your feedback will be lost any way and you might bite the hand that feed you.

I don't know about a neutral for slow shipping. Do we leave a neutral for slow payment from a buyer. I don't. You can give him a positive but indicate your opinion about the close of the auction. i.e. Quick response after ultra fast payment, shipping very slow. I would not give them any recommendation.

Personally, I wouldn't leave a neutral if the merchandise is what you expected. I've had things take forever to get to me. Most was worth the wait. Libra had a good suggestion. Leave a positive with a note that shipping could have been faster. That is unless you feel that strongly about it. Have they left you feedback yet? It's a shame you have to worry about get retalitory feedback.

I'm getting ready to neg a buyer right now and dread having to do so. I just know for some reason I'll get one in return even though it was the buyer who never made contact and never paid. Ebay needs to fix the feedback system so we aren't afraid to leave more honest feedback.

I still think a neutral is deserved here. We're talking 10, 11 days after PayPal payment before the item is even getting into the shipping system. In my opinion, that's a bit slow, and stinks of poor customer service. If people here think that this doesn't deserve a neutral, what in your opinion does??

There have been a handful of times when I had to wait 4, maybe even 5 days before shipping an item after payment, and every time I've slipped in a little something for the customer just to say sorry for the delay. Everytime it has been appreciated...hopefully this seller will do this as well?

BLA BLA BLA ,BLA BLA BLA!!
Everyone thinks everyone works round the clock on ebay and has no other life.
just because you fork over the money does not mean the seller has to round up the lot in time so you can get rich reselling them.
you want to buy lot,go to a wholesaler.
stop being so antsy and the world would be a much better place!!

Lurky's payment to the WHOLESALER was immediate.
WHOLESALER gave positive feed back to Lurky.
WHOLESALER didn't ship for 10 or 11 days, and lied about shipping date when questioned.
WHOLESALER deserves at least a neutral, and the nice part is, Lurkey won't get one in return.
WHOLESALER probably won't even notice the neutral, but Lurkey will feel better.

Update:

I got the box today (Saturday) and the items are as described. The auction states that the seller ships FedEx Ground, but these came the day after it was shipped (we're both in the same state--less than 150 miles apart). The link they sent for tracking comes up as FedEx and not FedEx Ground (and I didn't think Ground delivered on Saturday), so they might have sent it regular FedEx to cover their mistake.

BTW I didn't buy these for resale. It was a lot of 3 dozen gadgets that I purchased on a friend's behalf to use as stocking stuffers. It was one of those auctions where the final price was $1.00--but the shipping was $38.00 (the box weighed just under 3 pounds). Many of this seller's negs are for high shipping, but it was clearly stated in the auction so I don't have an issue with it (and the total price was well within what my friend wanted to spend). I guess I should decide not only on the feedback but whether or not to turn them in for fee avoidance!

They might be having the stuff shipped to them, then ship to you which could double the actual shipping cost. (And cause a big shipping delay that they can't control)
You can see how it was shipped by looking at the label. I would guess that it was Fedex Home Delivery they used.

Hi sapington,

Yes, it does say FedEx Home Delivery. Is that different than FedEx Ground or regular FedEx?

Edited to add that they've put up two more auctions of this lot of widgets since my auction closed.

Hi lurkyloo...FedEx Home is about the same as Ground, if I'm not mistaken...usually there's a slight charge for home delivery as opposed to a business. For just under 3 lbs, I'd say it cost the seller between 6 and 8 dollars for shipping.

Fedex Home Delivery is a division of Fedex Ground. They deliver tuesday through saturday.
The packages are moved between terminal in the same trucks as standard Fedex Ground which only usually operate monday - friday so all monday deliveries are delivered saturday)

If you are going to leave a neutral feedback, I would complain to them first. They might offer something to make up for the delay. (don't threaten them with bad feedback though, they could forward it to ebay)

If the distance was 150 miles and you are in the same state, FedEx Ground (Home Delivery) should be in the neighborhood of $5.00 - $6.00 for that package. If it came to your residence, it would be via their home delivery division, one business day would be the correct transit time, and they do deliver on Saturday. I would be more concerned about the fee avoidance than the slow shipping. Even then, for $38.00 shipping, you should have had that package the day after he received payment.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

Thanks for your very wise advice, sapington. They advertise right in their auction that they have fast shipping, so I think it's perfectly appropriate if I let them know of my dissatisfaction (ESPECIALLY since the shipping price was so very high!).

Thanks also for your info about FedEx Home Delivery--I just love the things I learn on this board!!!!

Lurky

Anyone who takes ten days to ship does not get a positive from me. Unless of course it is stated in their TOS when I bid.

Depending on the circumstances they get a neutral or no feedback if I don't want to deal with it.

I just make sure to never purchase from them again. It is a sign to me that they don't value my business. They took my money and will ship when they feel like it.

BLA BLA BLA!BLA BLA BLA!!
if they are for stocking stuffers, why check every day to see if it were shipped??
shipping is stated as 38 dollars, cant you read??
i guess to be an ebay seller, one has to work round the clock be a perfectionist and not go to bathroom or take a shower, just to keep some antsy buyer happy.
if you dont like the shipping arrangement, then dont bid,go to dollar stores, they have plenty of stuff for one dollar and no 38 dollars shipping.
the time you spent checking and checking, complaining and complaining, you could go flip burger and earn a good living.

stopwhining,

I didn't start following up until the 8th day, which is 1 day after the deadline that PayPal sets for sellers. They advertised fast shipping in their auction (which they didn't do), they accepted my PayPal payment, and their agreement with PayPal says that they have to ship within seven days (which they didn't do), when I followed up with them, they said they would ship "tomorrow" (which they didn't do).

My question to you is....what part of this do you not understand???? Why are you castigating me for following up on something I ordered but did not receive? From my post, did it sound like I intended to impose perfection on them?

Bottom line...if you think the seller acted properly and I'm a #*!@ from hell for trying to find out what happened to my merchandise, then you are greatly confused and need some serious help in coping with life. You might try watching Dr. Phil on a regular basis--he is very good at helping people (and I'm not trying to be bitchy to you--from other posts I have read of yours, I really think you could use some professional help).

If I left a NEG for every buyer that took more than 10 days to pay I would have left 100s of NEGS by now. Christmas is about 3 months away and you are worried about shipping time on these items come on, get a live. Boy-o-Boy some of these post are just plan STUPID.

lurkyloo - Just don't pay any attention to the ones trolling for attention. You had a legitimate question, and in my opinion a legitimate gripe. Glad the items turned out as advertised!

Thanks, koto! It's amazing when I think of all the threads I've seen here about buyers who don't follow the TOS and how they're idiots, deadbeats, doofuses, scum of the earth, etc. But if I tell of a seller who is equally lax about the promises he made in an auction, suddenly I'm a horrible person for actually DARING to follow up and wonder where my stuff was. Sigh. Rest assured I am ignoring (and pitying) those who revile the organized and methodical way in which I do business. If they are siding with this seller instead of me, then they are obviously neither organized nor methodical (and perhaps have a little trouble taking responsibility for their actions??).

I sent the e-mail to the seller about my dissatisfaction (i.e. shipping was "not as advertised" ), and I asked them to respond to my concerns. I hope I get a satisfactory answer!

To be frank (or Ralph for that matter), ye seem to be making biggie pooh-pooh out of nada!

Leave no feedback and move on!
