All the time I've been selling I've only had 1 NPB and that was only because the poor guy's house burnt down (or so he claimed). I let him off the hook and sold it for the same amount to the next highest bidder who desperately wanted the item.
The last three weeks are turning into a complete nightmare. I don't sell a lot (maybe 20 items at a time) so the three that I'm having a problem with right now seems a lot to me. I think one may have had to do with auction interference although I cannot prove it. Someone emailed me to say what I had wasn't what I said it was. I promptly emailed them back and told them that yes, it was exactly what I said it was unless she wants to call a certified gemologist a liar. That winner of that auction failed to contact me at all. Coincidence? Could be. She's been bidding on other things (more high ticketed than this one) since my auction ended so I'll accept no house burning down excuses. I've filed my NPBA and relisted the item.
The other two? Who knows. These were last minute bids and they get a WBN right away so there will be no "couldn't get to the computer" for a week excuses. I clearly state in my TOS that I must have a response to my WBN within three days unless there's a darn good excuse (not worded like that, of course).
Geesh, I hope I'm not alone in this. I've got a killer headache!

It's not been bad this week Cheryl but a couple of weeks ago whew ! I had at least 5 people that didn't make contact then poof five days later the payments started coming in (paypal) I check everyday to make sure payments haven't been made at the Paypal site so it wasn't them it was the bidders waiting that long to pay through paypal....they must have moved on to your sales lol....don't worry they'll pay.

if you are selling the items which are abundant on ebay being offered by you or other sellers, the bidders tend to have an attitude problem, see, another one will show up soon,

I have noticed what Cheryl is talking about. Bidding at the last minute, I send my personal WBN and it states I expect to hear back from you within 3 days and 3 days go by and nothing.I have 3 after 3 days and 3 will be 3 days tomorrow. I have one from August 29 that keeps asking for my address then the next email is how much to I owe. I think that has happened twice with this bidder. When I bid on an item and the auction closes and the seller takes PayPal I pay immediately. Oh well, it's only Money.

Okay, after 9 days I hear from one of the bidders. I send my WBNs using Outlook so I get a receipt when they read the mail I send and that's how I know they did receive it. Anyway, very apologetic and a bit smart mouthed at the same time. Said I should have checked their feedback because it's perfect. Well, duh. Everyone's is perfect until they get their first neg. I had sent a NPBA through Ebay by this time and I think that is why I was finally contacted (I find this to be quite the norm when you send a NPBA). I said she should have read my TOS. Her excuse was that she hasn't been as careful about checking her email as she should have been, has been very busy in her personal life and that my check was mailed Friday. Huh? How could she have mailed my check Friday if she didn't read my WBN until Sunday? While I have my doubts, at least I heard from her.
One down, two to go.

To only file a few NPBs on ebay over time is a run of good luck. More and more people decide to not pay for their purchases on ebay. Many of the non-payers are the occassional bidders that win stuff only one or two times a year. The NPB filings have little effect on these buyers if the 3 NPBs and you're out rule is based on a 'rolling 18 month average' like many posters on other boards have reported. ( I've gotta ask an ebay person on the live chat to confirm that )

It's most definitely not just you. I was just griping this morning that I wish to heck people would get on with it!
Just ran a report on my auctions from sept. 7th through today, and only about 40% are paid for. Yes, I just had a bunch end last night, but even just a couple of months ago it seemed like 80% were paid for within 24 hours via paypal. The rest at least responded to my EOA. Right now I have about 15 that haven't even bothered to confirm that they know they won the auction. I'm worrying that my emails have been spam filtered or something.
I know the majority will come through, but my bills are due in a few days, darnit!

Cheryl,
I suppose I am playing devil's advocate here, but lots of people do lead very busy lives.
I have often thought of people who work 60-70 hours a week, and maybe steal a moment to buy something on EBAY (because they dont get the chance to really shop otherwise), and then of course totally forget all about it.
I like to get paid fast too, but I think I've learned to give people some stretching room, even if they are full of bs excuses.
BTW, I had two buyers same thing, never heard from them, filed NPB and then payment shows up!~~

I think many people are now getting worried about their jobs and finances and many are regetting purchases they made on ebay.

I am getting the ones you contact after the auction with the shipping amount, so they send you the amount for the auction only-no shipping. I am going to start putting in my auctions if you don't send payment including shipping I return payment. Just like at the flea market they tell you well I know you want $10.00 for that but I've only got $8.00 on me....I had five people pull that on me this weekend. I think I need to go fishing for a month!

I listed one auction---the first in over a year---and bidding was steady. I put in my auctions that I prefer Paypal or money orders and that I'd prefer not to get personal checks. The winning bidder sniped last minute, e-mailed me right away saying she was going to send me a check. I hear nothing more. Now it has been 9 days and still no payment. I state that I expect payment within 10 days or I will relist the item. If there is nothing in mail tomorrow, then I am going to have to go through all the relisting stuff. Grrr. BTW, the winning bidder has 4 feedbacks and when I looked, has won 19 other auctions in the last few days.

That sounds similar to the thinking of many Canadians bidding on USA only auctions in that they believe Americans are all greedy and will take the money anyway once they win. That's where phrases like 'International bidder please pay $25 s/h ' help out a lot.
