I believe it's a scepter.
Am I right?
Can anyone tell me any more about it?
Thanks!

Looks a bit like part of a curtain rod set. Is it wooden? Does any part of it screw off? My hunch (and it's ONLY a hunch) is that a real scepter would be lots fancier, but perhaps a king or queen who reads Vendio threads can tell you more.

It's wood.
The knob appears to have been handled a lot is worn.
Just trying to figure out what it really is.
Any help would be great!

Looks like a poi pounder to me
Or could have been used to pound other items to get the powder/liquid out of an item - Hawaiians use poi pounders to pound the taro root to get the poi out. The "staff" part is a little long, but some kind of pounder is a possiblilty.

Sort of looks like an Irish Walking cane or Shillelagh

OTOH: tis a certain Freudian mystique evoked by this...

Thanks for the incite!
I decided to go with: Shillelagh.
It seems to meet the criteria.

Looks like a knobkerry to me, it is what the Zulu's despatched their victims with....or is it dispatched....perhaps I should have opted for the simple choice
and said bashed their head in...

Here's a site that sells knobkerrys and none of them appear very ornate.

not a poi pounder. Normaly those were squattier, wide on the bottom and often made from stone like this:

Shillelagh are usually freeform branches, usually rather knotty and bent.
I'd say a walking cane, and depending on the length perhaps for a short person or a child

Looks to me like everyone should pack up selling their widgets and concentrate on knobkerries judging by the prices they are getting for them....
