I have gotten about 4 or 5 of these in the last month or so and it's beginning to concern me. I always check the item and it's always invalid as is the seller and the email is always about shipping for more to some place
Does anyone know anything about this type of email and does anyone else get them?
Thanks

Hi, please add another $7 for shipping to TEXAS.

Yes, I have gotten the same emails, and just today I got this one:....what I did was to copy and past it and send it right back to the persons email that sent it to me.....lol....it has not come back to me saying not able to be delivered. So, I guess its a new form of .....direct spam........and advertisment........maybe its from the seller of the auction and hes using his other email address? well I just check out the both IDs and both are invalid......so I don't know what to make of it either

Hi, please add another $19 for shipping to NEW JERSEY.

I think these emails are just another way to harvest addresses for spam. If you reply they know they've got a live one.

I got one a few days ago. The subject line was: Re: Ask Seller a Question, with what was supposedly an auction number. I checked out the number and it didn't exist.

I've received a few of those. Ususally supposed cell phone auctions that don't exist. The first one caught me completely off guard and I clicked the link. As soon as I did, my anti-virus popped up with a downloader trojan warning. Check the link in those emails to be sure they don't contain the text "macro". I didn't look closely enough the first time so it caught me completely off guard. All the other ones I've gotten were like that. They also have invalid Ebay auction item numbers.

ehansen,
you have a good point about no clicking on the link, I never click on any links that come in emails, but for whatever reason I also never thought of it carrying a virus.....Thank you for heads up here.

I got one of these emails this morning (about shipping for tickets to a sporting event) and like you all said, it was an invalid numbr and seller. Right after I opened the email, my computer went to Windows Update and downloaded an update so I'm wondering if it's some kind of virus. Just to be safe I did a system restore back to yesterday to undo the download but it still makes me nervous.

I am usually just a looky-loo, but I want to thank all of you for keeping me up to date about viruses and such. I just received an email that had "question for seller" regarding an auction number in the subject field. Since I am not selling anything at this time and have not asked a seller anything, I checked the auction number on Ebay and it is invalid. I didn't open it because of your advice in this thread. I am not very computer literate and any help is greatly appreciated. I am wondering if we should forward the emails to Ebay?

I've received three of these emails over the past two days. The last two I just forwarded to [email protected]. I did get the canned response from eBay, but we'll see if anything comes from it. I always read the "Question for Seller" emails so hopefully nothing happens unless you actually write back to them. It will be interesting to see what the outcome of these emails will be.

Hi all,

The question for seller email has the auction number in the subject line. It's easy to find out if it's legit. If it isn't I don't open it.
