I'm searching around the australia post website, (and i'm not even sure if this is the one that USPS will delivery their packages too, but I think so..)
this lady thats buying a product from me will be leaving next next week on vacation. I'm located in CA, USA. USPS Airmail quotes 4-7 days but of course that might be held up by custom. I'm going to ship it today once I receive the payment.
she's worry that she wont be in when it comes and no one will be able to claim it. I'm wondering whats their policy on that.. do they leave it at the front of the door, or show a delivery attempt? As long as they dont ship it back to me, I dont think there's a lot of problem. I just dont want them to leave it on her front door and by the time she comes back, someone takes it. Hopefully after 3rd attempt they keep it at the local postal headquarter and she can claim it there when she gets back.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience and know the policy... thanks for any information. I'll keep checking. Funny thing is I'm not too sure on USPS policy too. Although they just drop most of my stuff here, unless its signature delivery or something else. Maybe I should pay for extra service to make sure it gets to her.

I have experience with Australian buyers and there is an interesting phenomenom with them.... probably 40% of my first time Australian buyer are scheduled to take a vacation within a week of the end of an auction and so need their order shipped immediately in order to avoid any problems with the delivery. With this rate of vacationers I considered moving there and opening a travel agency until I noticed that many were still bidding during those vacations and one gave me the same story 3 times in four months after becoming a repeat customer.

problem is, she's been waiting forever for me to get in stock and i feel pretty bad about delaying her.
she contacted me at the beginning of january, but during mid jan. i left for france on vacation, and when i came back my supplies weren't shipped to me from the manufacture so i had to order.. and now over a month later.
i'll ask her to check if she can i guess, or if she is comfortable with me shipping now and having the package possibly left there. she wants me to ship by the end of this week, and I will be able to, but I just dont know if she'll get it before she leaves.
but yeah this isn't a case of "i'm going on vacation need the package"
although then again it could be, since she's waited forever.

I do understand your dilemma here. Between a rock and a hard place, not easy.
Airmail is pretty fast and should make it in a weeks time. Only unknown is if this gets hung up in their customs office.
But if she has been waiting this long then another week should not make a big difference to her. Either that or let her know that she can take the risk herself if the parcel winds up coming back to you.

if you ship usps express,it would be faster, but she has to pay.
all these questions about aussie post office ,you should ask her, since she lives in aussieland, not us.

If this is really a matter of concern, why not ask her when she will be returning and mail it a few days before that date so thhat it arrives after her return home.

yeah i'll simply ask her what she wants me to do.
i just want to find out the info for her, since she is sort of new at buying, and maybe take that extra step and help her out so i can secure more business later.

All she has to do is to ask her postoffice to hold her mail until she gets back home. then she can go in and collect.

---------------
..above are your "keystrokes"
-----------------------
.. ONCE PAYMENT IS RENDERED, the seller is responsible for shipping...vacation and shortages might not mean much to a bidder, esp. overseas ones....
..SO IF I MAY ASK..
.. did bidder win the auction in early Jan????...if so, to quote you, "she has been waiting forever.."
..why wasn't auction paid for within the first two weeks????
..did you go to fr and leave the customer hanging in limbo - for, how many weeks now???
..what kind of manufacturer's supplies kept you from shipping, and how are supplies applicable to your situation???? as of your original thread, bidder hasnt paid for the item yet;; and this is now over a month since you imply auction was over...
..if you still reading this, realize my intent is not to infuriate you, in addition to my curiostity --you may be in the process of creating a near-perfect environment for getting yourself negg'd.... my opinion of course...but since "they happen" continuously for much less..beware..

myoldtoy, woops I could have sworn I put it in there somewhere in 3 of my post that this isn't an ebay transaction. *smacks head*
I thought I did when I was responding to Fenix03 telling him/her about how this probably isn't a case of "I'm going on vacation need this now" ebay transactions, since this isn't an ebay bidder. (although we're in an ebay forum, I figure someone here might help me out)
if this was an ebay transaction, I wouldn't have a listing while I'm gone for two weeks, heh. thats not practical. i closed my auctions while I was away, and sent off one that ended a week earlier because I dont want a bidder to wait although the check didn't clear yet but eh its all risk management anyway.
sorry for not being clear on the issue. I know what you're talking about though.
