It's wonderful - exactly what I'm looking for. When I first looked at it I thought I'd be gone but lucky for me it ends just after midnight Saturday so I'll be around to bid. Leaving Sunday on a short vacation.

Thank you very much!

Lucy

Hi all,

My son is retired Navy. USNA Class of '88. Flew those big huge two-rotor helicopters. Was in Guam on Search & Rescue and in the Gulf on Coke & Cheeseball duty.

I'm trying to assemble a charm bracelet that applies. It'll be on display near the little pillow that's embroidered "It's Hard to be Humble When You're a Mids Mom"

Classic - Didn't realize all that charm came from the Navy! Lotsa class in the USN and snazzy uniforms to boot.

Lucy

Oops - wrong smilie!

the only thing about my snipes lately is when I go to make the bid and I "hear" a price, so I would make my snipe that price. Evidently that price is the proxy bid, so I've learned to bid $5.00 over that and it's working again for me.

Although I had a fairly new bidder last week win one of my auctions with an exact second bid at the end. I wanted to ask him what he used to snipe with, or if he just did it himself, but I refrained myself.

One of the auctions I won recently, the buyer left this feedback "Obviously an expert Ebayer" for my snipe bid.

I decide on my max bid, then add a few bucks for the pain factor, then make it some odd amount. Bid as late as I possibly can, considering my nervousness level, and hope for the best!

Gotta do it. Just gotta do it.

Of course I have to stay up till midnight for this auction and I'm leaving the next day for my "gamble my brains out" trip to Elko. Oh well, I guess I can sleep on the plane. Only an hour, though.

You know, this is a 3-day auction. If you hadn't happened to see it and think of me and post it here, I probably wouldn't have known about it. Does this say something for short listing durations? I think it does...

MsLucy, don't let the short duration fool you. I've been watching this guy's auctions for over 2 years and he has a loyal following who KNOWS how to snipe! Sometimes his winning bids go thru the roof in the last 5 seconds, so make sure you put in the highest bid you are willing to pay.

I hated to list it on the board where everyone could run the bid up on you, but I wanted to make sure you saw it soon enough.

Good Luck! I hope you win... D

Ltray,

Yes, I checked his history too and he sure knows how to list stuff. Nice things and he ends up with pretty close to 100% sell through.

No, no, please don't apologize for the "publicity"... I do like the bracelet but it's not the be-all end-all. I'll be watching the auction and, if it works out, I'll bid on it.

Thanks again for letting me know about it.

OK - why do you guys get to see it and I get the "sorry - you live in the wrong country and so are a security risk" message. Since when is San Diego another country?

Fr those that have not seen this message.....

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

LOL, Fenix! I can't imagine why you are receiving that message. Maybe the Navy doesn't want you playing with their little toy boats??

Can you pull up any of his auctions??

OTOH, if you receive this info often, perhaps you need to check your account preferences and see if somehow you are listed in Afghanistan or something.

I can view everything I tried except for the Navy bracelet. I'm not even signed in. This is just funny.

Fenix...That Carribbean island you are lounging on at the beach with your laptop in one hand an a Mai Tai in the other is the problem. Bin Laden has a bunch of cash stashed in one of the local banks and that island is now on the "watch list" of the CIA. You'll have to wait till you get back home with us common folk before you're allowed to view the auction

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

I wonder if the seller of the charm bracelet thought he'd get more than $40 for the item?

His description said the 7 charms were going for $10 to $20 each on ebay but that must have been salesman BS.

Ace, I doubt seriously he cared either way how much the bracelet went for. He starts all of his auction at $1,no reserve, 3 days. From his feedback and history, it obviously works for him.

I started watching his auctions because he is usually pretty accurate on his glassware descriptions. But anything outside of glassware, he obviously doesn't have a clue and doesn't care.

He had an S&S Chrome belt buckle listed once as an "Unusual and Rare Art Deco Monogrammed buckle", lol. In case you aren't familiar with S&S, they do carbs for Harleys.

I've found several sellers on ebay like this one that seem to do estate sale buyouts or such. They must look at the price they paid for the whole lot and care only about coming out ahead by at least a few bucks. Anything more is a bonus including a few rare finds that bring in big dollars.

It does look like they researched the sterling silver charm bracelet on ebay though. I thought it would bring in more than $40.

Sparkz - who says I am coming home? I have arranged for once a week air cargo shipments of my items to pe picked up at the airport and dropped off at the post office. As long as no one minds a little errant sand in their packages I am off an running - plus every shipments now includes a complimentary, only used once, drink umbrella.
