I bought this thing, I thought it was a liner, but it looks just like this closed auction here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2222919980&category=4729

but I can't see the front of this, so I don't know if it's the same thing or not. The back looks just alike, but it has a button on the hood that we assumed it buttoned into a jacket or parka.

I can post a picture later if nobody knows.
thanks
LB

ARGH!!! I can't view this either - where does this site think I am anyway?

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

LOL poor baby

I finally found out what it was. The army label that identifies it was sewn into the jacket, only they covered it up. You could see one edge of it sticking out, and I really didn't want to rip the seam to read it but I eased it open after I googled myself to death. I can read most of it but I"m not about to open it any more.

It says:

"parka, field

Always worn under Parka, Field <seam>
Parka, Overwhite. Hoods are <seam>
so that both parkas may be <seam>
as a unit, but parkas are <seam>

Strip hoar frost off fur ruff wi <seam>
much accumulates. If the ruff <seam>
slowly.

When entering heated quarters <seam>
and beat or brush offthe frost<seam>

Turn inside out to dry. Moistur <seam>
even when dampness is not <seam>
seperate from outer parkas <seam>

Anyway, I can google up Overwhite.
Parka, Field, Overwhite
used for white camoflauge over the "Parka, Field, Cotton, OD" (see above) as well as others. QM info shows size Medium manufactured in 1948 to a 1943 pattern. Has the build-in hood and coat snaps all the way down the front.

Says they're super scarce but that could be the complete thing.

heard from the seller of the jacket:

"This is a very rare much desirable jacket. Mainly collectors are interested. We have only seen 2. this one is a pullover, There is no zipper or buttons, both views were shown on the auction, you must not have pulled it up. There were only a few of these issued in WW2 and I think they were Army Air Force. Thats all I know."
