The buyer of the army jacket wants to see pictures of my jacket. I've already uploaded them to VD and I'm writing the auction now, but do I have to send him JPEG's of the pictures or can I send him the VD link url? Would he be able to view it that way?
This could be a stupid question but I've never tried to have somebody else view pictures in VD unless I was posting in a forum somewhere.
thanks
LB

Never mind, I just went ahead and listed the auction since I was so close to finishing it and put in BIG RED BOLD letters at the top DO NOT BID! This auction is currently under revision, any bids will be canceled.

Glassgrl,

For future reference, if you can paste the url for the pics into your browser's address bar - hit "go" -- and it displays your pic, you can surely send that to them.

What I've done in the past, to keep my "hosting location" a secret, I've just used the TinyURL.com site to create a "cloaked" url -- then send them the links for review.

I don't know if I would have put the note you did at the top of your auction -- but that will probably keep people from bidding, that's for sure.

Thanks Wayne for the information. I wondered how and why you used it. Handy tool

thanks Wayne, the tiny url is a great idea.

The note at the top in the auction is merely temporary, I will remove it as soon as I hear from the guy researching the jacket. He was the high bidder on the completed auction jacket that was/is similar and offered to look through his books for me.

You may want to make this a pre-approved bidder auction.

http://pages.ebay.com/services/buyandsell/biddermanagement.html

If someone were to bid on your jacket, even with your warning, it may make you unable to edit it later, even if you canceled the bid.

Do not put anyone's name as pre-approved, and no one can bid.

Later, you can take off the pre-approved bidder restriction.

The buyer of the army jacket wants to see pictures of my jacket.

If they already bought the jacket, why are you listing it and writing a new auction?

I'd end the auction and relist it later when you're finished researching the item. The 'do not bid on this auction' is bound to be ignored by bidders and possibly by someone trying to coerce the jacket out of you. For an extra 60 cents it's worth not having to cancel bids.

I've already gotten my answers and started the auction.

Besides, I popped an extra $5.00 for the purple highlight bar. First time I've ever done that.

gousainc suggestion worked great. Nobody could place a bid<gggg>. I have that hint bookmarked for future use.

I'm not sure if pasting the URL to the address bar and getting the picture is proof that it will show up as I've done that very thing, and yes it showed up. But I went a step further and disconnected from the internet and it still showed up. I then went to internet options and deleted files and it still showed up.

If someone would tell me where the link is kept on my computer that would be appreciated.

However, to check the URL for sure I sent it to my cousin via Instant Message and it showed up for him.

Conclusion:I think in most instances you are safe pasting the URL into your auctions and telling people to copy paste the URL to the address bar.
