I received a pink money order from Canada today. Is that an International money order?

Yes, you can cash them at the post office.

As long as it states international money order. It does sound like one though. Any decent bank will deposit them for you at no charge. If your bank charges for them, change banks.

My Wells Fargo branch (by all other standards a 'decent' bank) charges $ 1.50 for those (they are international postal orders).

If it is the one issued by the Canadian PO in US Dollars your local PO will cash it free.

My bank will not accept them at all. And no, I'm not changing banks. They do me lots of favors they don't have to. The Canadian non-acceptance thing comes down from the corporate office.

My credit union might, though. I'm going to check that today.

Don't try to cash a business check drawn on Wells Fargo AT Wells Fargo. You are in for a surprise. The banks are warping the meaning of negotiable instrument.

I refuse all BofA checks, and now will refuse all Wells Fargo checks. These institutions refuse to honor their own depositors checks unless you pay a fee. This is on a business account, but you don't KNOW until you are standing in front of their teller. Just refuse all of 'em.

Any other banks I should refuse refuse from?

I don't know, but when I got to Disneyland and see REFUSE on the trash cans, I can never figure out what it is I'm supposed to object to. Maybe it's the downtrodden trying to subvert Disney.

My money orders were US Dollar, drawn on the Royal Bank of Canada...not International Postal Money Orders. So no one will take them here, not even my credit union.

Fluffy

My money orders were US Dollar, drawn on the Royal Bank of Canada.

What does it say on the M.O.? The big Canadian banks have partner banks in the U.S.
I get lots of these and have no problem at all. [Chase Manhatten, Citi bank...etc.]

You should see if it states the name and addy of the U.S. bank. If that is the case then have a hearty talk with your bank manager.

Yes, it has the name of a U.S. bank. (I forget which.) These money orders usually do.

The bank won't take them. It doesn't do any good to talk to them, and really, I don't want to ship to Canada anyway. I have US-only in all my auctions.

I seem to recall that wasn't an election, more like a fait accompli by some watery tart throwing a sword.

Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

There is no logical reason your bank will not take them, makes no sense at all. Brain dead. Myself, I would show them the door fast. It's up to you how you wish to handle your sales.

fluffy, my bank wanted to charge me for bank to bank wire transfers until I told them that I would have to find a bank that didn't charge. They waived the charges. There is a bank on every corner check them out. If you can prove you can make them money by giving them a good size cash flow they will bend over backwards to get your business. I don't get charged for any type of cash transaction not because I am a good guy but because I give them good cash flow. Its all about the BENJAMIN'S. Business 101
