I sold a widget this weekend. Surprisingly I had lots of bids. (wish I had more of this same kind of widget. DARN!) Anyway, in the auction description it says shipping is: parcel post $4, priority $6 and internationsl shipping charges determined at auction close. This winner or should I say Weiner says, I am in canada, I'll take priority mail, I am sending you the $6 plus bid price make sure you mark it as a gift. (Sounds like he's shopping, doesn't it?) I say, no you won't! Let me check on shipping to your part of the world and get back to you. I sent an email today with the correct shipping charges. He replies that's fine, why don't you go ahead and send it now and I will be sending a money order shortly. That way I will get it faster. You can trust me due to my high pos feedback.

I checked his feedback. 200 + with 6 negs for non payment with his replies in alot of swear words etc.

I replied to that email with only, "I'll ship the widget within 24 hours of receiving your payment"

"and life goes on . . . . "

I guess I have been lucky as I have never had a buyer like that from Canada or any other country. I don't understand and maybe someone from Canada can explain this as to why Sellers should lie on the customs form. If you bid and win then buyers should abide by the TOS. TOS should not be dictated by a buyer. After you checked his feedback you should have mailed the package immediately

If a Canadian buyer asks you to lie on the customs form, as a good Ebay seller you should comply with his request to demonstrate your commitment to customer service. After all, who's it going to hurt? You simply list the contents as tobacco and declare the value as $2000.00. This will assure you that at least 50% of the participants in this transaction will be happy.

In a word NO. The last 5 winners (in the last 3 weeks) have tried to negotiate payment. Not one of them contacted me before the end of the auction (like our TOS says to do). Then they either write and ask or just pay (US shipping amount). Either way there are way toooo many Emails back and forth for what could be a simple transaction.

I did learn something from this board though. THANK YOU!!! Now I refund the amount they paid and make them send the full amount, rather than sending just the difference. I lost most of the extra they sent seperatley for the shipping because of the PayPal fees --- 30 cents a transaction + %age at PayPal and a charge for then monetary conversion too.

So now we groan every time we get a Canadian winner, but in the end their money spends just as good as anyone elses so on we go!!!
