Here's my report: I decided to try Vendio gallery a week ago, and the first batch of auctions with that feature ended tonight. I have to say that my hits were at least triple what they've been in the past. And in some cases quadruple. If this keeps up, I'm sold on the gallery.

Not to take away from your observation, but you posted one week ago to have us look at your auction with the gallery.

A lot of us looked at your auctions due to your posting on the 11th, and from other gallery postings you made, because we were interested in the gallery.

What were your bids like? More? Higher?

I've noticed the same thing on mine.

gmorning roady - did you put yours at the top of the listing or bottom. Which is the best, do you think??

I put mine at the top for a couple of reasons. The first is that most of the time, bidders don't scroll to the bottom of the listing. They either know enough by looking at the picture of the product or they read the description and either bid or move on. The second reason is that if they've clicked on that auction they are interested in it so I don't think the gallery at the top will stop them from viewing at least the auction photo.

I know that once I read someone's description and their TOS, I rarely if ever go down further to view what other auctions they may have. I like the in-your-face approach.

Gousainc: Yes, I did invite people to look; you're right. Still, the numbers were so much higher (looking at that column of hits, I saw numbers I haven't seen in a long time). And I sold some "pound puppies," as I call them--homely little items of ephemera, etc., that I had to dress up with a pink ribbon, so to speak, hoping they'd sell.

By the way, people, remember that ugly fishy face clay pipe? It actually sold to someone in Tennessee for about $11.00 Who says miracles don't happen? I did go in on Saturday and add a second category--Everything Else>Weird Stuff. Immediately, my hits went up and up. It was funny.

Reminds me, I had two books on easy food ideas for backpackers. Listed one a couple of months ago, no takers that week until I changed "easy recipes" to "easy eating" in the title line. Eating sounds so much easier than recipes, doesn't it? Sold for a good amount. I sold the second one last night for a good amount, too. Learn something new every day, don't we?!

Niel: I started out putting the gallery in the text of the description itself, but it widened all the lines too much (I like to have description at the right side, pictures down the left side, in my auctions). So I took it out of most of my auctions.

Then I added the gallery at the bottom. I'm going to leave it there for another week or so, then switch to the top and see how that goes.
I guess I'm worried that, if gallery is at the top, the viewer may get distracted by some of the gallery items and never get back to the original item he wanted to look at.

I have to say that Vendio Gallery has been a godsend..My sell through rate has been up at least 25% (I was at about a 50% sell through) with multiple bids on almost all of my auctions..

I agree with Cheryl on putting it on top..I just dont feel like people are going to scroll far enough down for the bottom and they immediatly see that you have much more items to offer right off the bat.

I've noticed that I have had bids not long after auctions have been posted. Before the gallery I hardly had bids until the last day or when it came down to the wire. I have mine at the bottom now and may change it to the top. I have the slot machine on mine and I have found myself "playing" with it so maybe buyers are playing with it and find an interesting auction to bid on. LOL

I too have noticed more bids in the first hours of the auction than ever before. (And I have more relative newbies buying this week, too.)

Some of the ugly little items I didn't think would sell, Sanmar, sold this week, and most had more than one bid. I sold 22 out of 23 items.

I forgot to put a photo in one of my listing so I had the RED CURTAIN in the middle of my gallery and guess what got the most hits?? You got it - My use that again - I think it the what's behind that door deal.
Now if sells would pick up.
My gallery is at the top.
