What if a new bidder was not allow to leave neg. FB until they have reach 20 or 30 positive FB's? They could still report a seller for vilations etc and leave positive FB just not neg.
That would give them a better understanding of the FB system and would protect sellers somewhat against NPB neg feedback as a large number of NPB seem to be 0 or just a few FB's. Plus once you have built up 20 FB's you want to protect them - right. If you only have 3 or 4 - who cares - just start over.

I'd be for it. Others here have suggested a 10-feedback idea. Either way, some experience with the system for newbies would help us all. I bought on Ebay for about a year before starting to sell and sure was fully aware of the feedback dos and don'ts.

Yeah but then the seller would still be allowed to leave neg feedback... that wouldn't work in all cases because lets face it, some sellers are just hateful...

my question has always been.....Why was the feedback system not set up originally that each time an auction closed, both the seller and the buyer's feedback purged 1 more .....then if there was a problem , you could always go back and leave a negative comment from either party ?.....that way, all you would have to research would be the negative comments and not have to dive into thousands of positives...it would show all the true transactions (# wise) of any member...because feedback is certainly not always left by either party , and it would also free up, what I would think would be a ton of E-bay's web space ?......

What I'm wanting to see is to tie payment to feedback from buyers. If the buyer doesn't pay, they can't leave any feedback, including negative. How to tie it to offline payment is the sticky area.

my take on this has been

1. NPB is filed... niether seller or buyer can leave feedback

2. buyer pays, seller informs eBay and normal feed back process is on once again

or

3. Seller files for FVF for nonpayment, now only the seller can leave feedback, auction complete.

Why bother?

eBay has had literally tens of thousands (if not more) suggestions made about feedback...and acted on exactly none of them.

Don't waste your breath.

Feedback is unimportant. The problem is not with the feedback system; it's the perception you have of it as somehow actually meaning something.

There are many shooting-star sellers with less than 98% feedback. Do you think they agonize over that?
