I have a set of 2 very large volumes and they are in a box that is open at the long end so that if put on a shelf you can see the two volumes. What is that box called??
also I am not sure what category to put them in etc. "The Art of Florence" Volumes I and II. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd list them in Books with item specifics as "Art". I'd also double-list them, putting them in Collectibles >Cultures etc. >Europe.

I double-list a lot; not sure if it always helps. For sure, use the Books category. Give copyright dates, publisher, no. of pages, marks or damage in the books, etc.
