Can anyone tell me the approximate age of this pitcher. It is in mint condition & I would like to list it on eBay & do not want to misrepresent it's age. The colors in the picture are true to the actual colors.
It's about 4" high.
Any opinions as to value would be very welcome too.

mcjane - it's wonderful! I'm not an expert on Royal Bayreuth, but the style and decoration look to be 20s, 30s. The value must be quite high - it's like the figural tomato and stag pitchers they made. I'm sure it will do well. Hopefully, someone with expertise will show up. The design is so great. I guess you would call it whimsical. Good luck with it! I would hate to part with it myself ...

Wow, mcjane - congratulations on a great find!!

I know virtually nothing about Royal Bayreuth. A friend had a piece she wanted me to sell on eBay - it was a pitcher also. It had the same blue marking as your piece, and from what I could find that marking dated back to the early 1900's. Her's was mint also, and she had second thoughts about selling it so kept it.

I agree with earthmum - it should do very nicely for you

Kovels shows many of the Royal Bayreuth marks and this one is shown as:

TETTAU PORCELAIN FACTORY (ROYAL BAYREUTH)
Tettau, Bavaria, Germany (W.Germany)
Porcelain, Printed Blue after 1957 + (1794-present)
(Royally Privileged Porcelain Factory Tettau GMBH)

Hope it does well for you, mcjane.

yo mcjane how's the house going...or is it yet?

funny thing is we're having our first me against him house argument. we've been looking at houses to buy for 5 years...I've found several I would love to have and he's passed up on for various reasons. Now he's found one that I think he would just be foolish to buy and he's mad at ME! (mine were a much better investment!)

you know it's bad when you start looking at houses and you look for the Ebay room in it

House is still there, it's been 7 months now.
The adjuster was here the other day with a partial payment check for 118.000.00 so we could get started.
Now I have to meet with the builder & architect to finalize things & get a start date.

And, yes, I am going to have an eBay room, it will be where the new addition was only smaller & a lot plainer.

Five years glassgrl...... looks like I might be in my new home before you.
How many have you looked at. You both will know it when you see it though, this is the first home we looked at, the add said secluded & it certainly was, we loved it & bought it right away. It took 15 years & 80.000 in it to get it just the way we wanted it.
It needed everything, but the location was fantastic & we couldn't have afforded it if it was in perfect condition. The structure was sound & the layout perfect, it just needed a lot of renovation.
Too bad that tree didn't fall on it 14 years ago.

When looking remember three things:
Location, Location, Location

Good luck & happy hunting, you'll find it.

Jane
