bunnicula,

Could it be any more gaudy?!?

Yeah... how about a born-again bidder

Actually, I think it is quite lovely, and on the right man, would be spectacular. Personally, I think it takes a tall, more dignified looking man to wear such a watch with ease and class. Bakker is neither tall, nor sophisticated in appearance. I can easily see any of the James Bond’s wearing such with pure class and elegance.

A friend of mine and I used to discuss what “class,” was, and how one obtained it. We determined you are either born with it or you aren’t. It doesn’t necessarily relate to money, it is an air, one’s demeanor, the a way one carries ones self, confidence – you either have it or you don’t. Neither Bakker nor Tammy Faye with all that money had class – class can’t be purchased.

Examples:

Gary Grant had it
Robert DeNero doesn’t
Robert Wagner has it
Brad Pitt doesn’t
Pierce Brosan has it
Robbin Williams doesn’t
Sean Connery has it
Mel Gibson doesn’t
Sidney Poitier has it
Russell Crow doesn’t
Denzel Washington falls in the “does” column but with reservations

I think you get the idea. Oddly, it is harder and harder to find the true look, and demeanor of class in today’s crop of actors. Granted they “dress up” nice, but that “touch of class” such as Grant, Wagner, Connery, Poitier have just isn’t there.

There is a difference between class and one who has a powerful presence. One would think Arnold Schwarzenegger has presence, and granted I am sure he turns heads when he enters a room, but that in and of its self is not presence. Presence has strong roots, a constant line of beliefs and attitude, and requires a response of awe and almost reverence from those in the room they enter. At the moment the only person I can think of with such imposing presence in a room was John Wayne, a man bigger than life. Even John’s strongest opponents respected him and were normally gracious when interviewing him.....

jwpc -- I fit your definition of being able to wear the Rolex, at least the tall and dignified part. Thank you. Except I believe that anyone who would wear a $10,000 watch is categorically excluded from being able to do it with class and elegance.

pelorus, I disagree, but that is a matter of opinion.

Pelo - I agree with you. I think part of class is an understanding of the difference between elegance and ostentation. This watch does more to communicate rap star esque sudden wealth and need to display it than someone with classic sense of styling who I think would choice to pass on the diamond bezel.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?
