OK, I know I will get some smart answers here but I am in hopes that someone out there does know what these are. At first I thought they were for sorbet but I'm not sure now. They are 2 1/4 inches high and 2 1/2 across. They are crytal with a beautiful ring when tapped. There are no marks at all.
You are soooo funny. In Oklahoma, where my husband is from, they call them "prarie oysters".
For the uninformed, those are testicles from nuetered young male calves. They are peeled, sliced, breaded, fried and eaten.
Yes, they all got together at the local "community building", a large shack without plumbing in the middle of nowhere to have a "prarie oyster fry" and potluck.
I almost tossed my cookies when I saw them defrosting on my mother-in-law's kitchen counter and figured out what they were. I thought I'd never touch them, having been raised a city chick.
Once we arrived at the pot luck, they just looked kinda like slices of breakfast sausage. I tried them and were suprised that they were mild and tasty!
Oaky I won't torture you any longer.
