do we think there'll be a promotion for regular US auctions this summer? As I recall, we had a 10 cent sale last year in August. Think we'll have something this year?

Patty, what kind of solid info would you expect anyone to have?
It's all speculation.
However, you can choose what fact to fuel your speculation. I note an article in yesterday's Wall Street Journal that says:
"eBay Inc. said second-quarter net income more than doubled as revenue increased 52%, and it raised forecasts for the remainder of the year. But the Internet-auction company saw a more pronounced slowdown in growth as a result of the summer season than it has in the past, a development that worried some investors....From the first quarter of this year, revenue grew only 2.3%. The comparison is significant, because eBay's growth has traditionally been so rapid that the company has consistently posted significant sales increases even from the prior quarter."
I surmise that Meg and her bright boys are putting their heads together to come up with a strategy that will appease the torch/pitchfork investor mob. A Free Listing Day before September *could* be part of that strategy.

just a thought here...i used to jump through hoops and do a lot of listings for FLD. some stuff sold, some didn't, most of what sold went for the opening bid.
however, since i opened an eBay store in April, i find that i have a pleasant, consistent sell-through rate, at prices in the store about double or triple what i used to put for the opening bid on FLD. i'll sure never give my stuff away again on FLD! why go through the hassle, when i can just put the stuff in the store?

If there is too much competition on the items you are selling in your store...your not going to sell anything at any price. You MUST have items not found all over E-Bay to do well in their store.

yes, i agree that store items need to be somewhat unique to show up in searches and hence sell. i use the store for collectibles. i think this would be much, much harder with more generic items.
