Just called the US Postal Service to reorder priority mail supplies. They informed me that Priority Mail tape is no longer available to customers. MMMM.. makes me wonder just how long it will be before we will have to purchase priority mail boxes, etc.

some folks use these tapes for anything but shipping.
I dont use priority tapes, why not just slap a label on the box??

From what the Post Master here told me, there were a lot of people using Priority tape on First class and Parcel Post and it was making it hard for them to get the shipping checks correct. (Yes, they do check the weight and shipping at random in the main distribution centers) She said that it looks like it will be back this fall, hopefully. I just love that sticky, stinky stuff. It sticks to almost every box I can find to use.

And UPS will take packages with USPS Priority tape, and even take their boxes and ship them. I know, I received 2 UPS packages in a USPS Priority box and tape

I was also told that the USPS is cracking down on turning boxes inside out. It's a shame that some have ruined it for many.

I came home the other day and had a priority mail package sitting by my door. I thought how odd I already got the mail today. Then I realized it had a UPS label on it. And we wonder why we can't get free supplies from USPS anymore

I buy a lot of jewelry off Ebay. Increasingly sellers are sending my things First Class in USPS boxes turned inside out. They are ruining things for everybody. I would like to complain to them about what they are doing, but I don't want a neg over it. While we are discussing shipping, I wish sellers would quit using so darn much tape all over the bubble wrap. You can't get it off and you end up having to cut into the bubble. It would be very easy to damage what you have purchased. The amount they put on is overkill.

1)The USPS has never let me send anything that had priority tape any other way than priority. Are they that stupid elsewhere? Not that I have tried, but many clerks have "proactively" reminded me before I could utter "priority with delivery confirmation please" I've been in 10 different PO's through travel, locations near horse, and on the way to other errands, plus a relocation. No one even offered parcel post.

2)A little teeny PO in a neighboring town near where I board my horse has told me that, unlike the Ebay co-branded tape for sale, they only give Priority tape to businesses. Huh? I will bring my business license and see if I can get some more of the tape.

I've gotten UPS deliveries in reversed USPS boxes. I think the tape is the beginning of the end of freebies.
I like priority, free supplies and short enough ship time makes it work for my humble efforts.

I heard a rumor about 1 1/2 years ago that the USPS was going to stop giving away priority tape, boxes etc. I then called the 800 number for USPS and they said they heard the same thing but couldn't confirm it so I ordered a HUMONGOUS (ok, huge) lot of materials. (This is a funny story) A few days later I received a call from the local USPS order dept located about 40 miles away from me in Oakland ca) to confirm my order since it was so big. That person said they heard the same thing but couldn't confirm it either. So we both agreed I should increase my order even more. She told me to expect the delivery in about a week. (You'll love this one) A tractor tailer showed up on my tiny street with my order on TWO PALLETS! OH MY GOODNESS! Where in the HECK was I going to put this priority C*#P!!! My 83 neighbor across the street came out as well as my 85 year old next door neighbor to see what was going on. The 83 year old who is too polite to say too much, asked if I needed help. The gruff 85 year old said, " Looks like someone really screwed up their order, didn't they?" and looked straight at me. We all had a good laugh. 2 weeks later I had a garage sale and was giving the boxes of boxes away. I think I still have boxes of tape somewhere and yes, I still am stocked up with priority stuff.

Then I realized it had a UPS label on it.

You need to march that up the the post office. I put up with a lot of things, but not this. A lot of us rely on the free boxes and such from the post office and it seems some are h#$@ bent on ruining it for us. UPS should not be allowing this and USPS should not allow UPS boxes to be used for USPS business either. I do know that the USPS is very interested in those who are abusing the privilege.

how did the sellers get away using USPS priority box turned over as first class package??
The postal clerks would not let these packages shipped as first class as they recognise these boxes??
unless they placed these boxes in envelope.

stopwhining, Most of the time they are NOT wrapped in paper. As to how they got the postal clerks to take the boxes, I don't know as it was on the other end. The clerk doesn't know if it is a recycled box or not, so they can't very well refuse the package going out. If you strategically place your large address label, fragile label, etc., USPS marks are concealed. Like I mentioned, I would like to email the sender and complain, but I don't want to end up in an argument and get a negative.
