I am showing the link to a friend's auction. She has had several guys email her and tell her that this UP Railroad Badge is a reproduction. Since they have never seen one then it doesn't exist. I have Bill Knous' book, "Railroadiana, The Official Price guide for the Year 2000 anbd Beyond" and can't find a mention of this particular badge. We searched the Railroadiana Collectors Association Inc. website plus emailed the man in charge of it. He won't give an answer based on a web picture plus he is afraid of liability issues. I would be better able to believe it is a reproduction, but it is nickle over copper or brass. Can anyone point us to a website that shows a UP Railroad police badge of this QUALITY as a reproduction? She will pull the auction in a heart beat if there is one out there. Thanks so much.

Write to the railway in question, they may be able to shed some light on the badge.

So Tom has shown you a reproduction of the original one you have. Yours seems to have the patina of an old RR Badge. I don't think anything like that could be duplicated with the metal they have now to what they used back then.

I think that function ebay has with ask the seller a question would be good for this auction. When you answer the seller's question and if you want it to it will show up at the end of the auction page and there you could put in the URL to that picture.

BTW Tom I think your Ralphie is cute.
