I just had the greatest experience with an eBayer. It makes the not so great ones a bit easier to take. I sent the items out and got an email that an item was missing. It was possible with the harried state of mind I've been in. I looked everywhere and couldn't locate the item. I sent a replacement, which the bidder was very happy with. Just got an email. This bidder found the missing item. Not only was the bidder honest enough to let me know, they are sending it back along with a check to pay for my postage.

Sure wish all bidders (and sellers) could be this honest!!

That's great, Cheryl.

I'm finding it too easy for me to just see the bad buyers as looming very large and to forget all the good ones out there. Most of mine are wonderful. And now that July is over, thank goodness, maybe the NPBs will disappear for all of us.

That's a nice one, Cheryl

Yesterday, I got this from a former customer:

Hi there. I bought your copper bookends a couple months ago, remember? They arrived damaged and i couldn't find the piece in the box. Well, I owe you a HUGE apology! When we moved our couch last week to shampoo, I found the tip way back by the wall! How it got that far back I will never understand (it is a low-slung couch and the floor is carpeted) but I did want to let you know I had found it. I hope I wasn't too rude; I was just frustrated!! I believe in honesty and integrity--even when I have to eat a little crow, so I had to write. (Especially after I told my kids I had found it, 'cause they wanted me to let it go and not say anything. There was no way I was going to set THAT example for them! Take care, Susan

---------------------

I wrote back to her:

Dear Susan .... your reward will be in Heaven.

Blessings,
Marcia

P.S. Don't tell the kids that you wrote this email to the wrong seller, ... I sold you a few things, but none of them were bookends. LOL ... God saw
your 'eating crow', and that's all that matters.

Great story, Marcia! The customer just wrote me back and they've paid for the item I sent them. Yes, maybe we're over the rough because I had a pretty good week. July was really bad - bad eBay sales, bad summer weather! I'm looking forward to August and Fall!

I just had another wonderful customer. I sold a cast iron Santa nutcracker on a wooden base. Wouldn't you know it, I dropped it and put a huge scrape across the base. I dropped it on a piece of my mother's depression ware. Anyway, I emailed him and told him what happened. I offered to refund his money and leave positive feedback for him or I would send him the nutcracker for just the cost of shipping (I have no use for the thing). He told me to keep the money and go ahead and send the nutcracker! He understood about the drop because his wife does it all the time. Not only is he getting the nutcracker, he's also getting a great big thank you gift!

I've also had good experiences this week with a couple of newbies who didn't just assume they knew how to do things. They asked questions!

eBay should have a contest for the best eBay bidder of the year. They'd need to offer a great prize. Maybe that would encourage good bidding behavior. Rewards always work better than punishment. Although, punishment for some of these bidders sure is satisfying - for us!
