Bizzy

I bought these for twenty five cents at a church yard sale. I thought they'd be great as doll house rugs because they are very small. I can't figure out what type of yarn was used to crochet them. It's too stiff to be cotton and it's scratchy. Is it possible that it's jute? Think they're old?

I have no idea what their intended purpose could have been since the largest is only 3" in diameter and the smallest is 2-1/2" in diameter. Maybe someone's practicing?

Cheryl,

They look like coasters. You're probably right that they are made from jute if they are scratchy. I was thinking hot pads when I first saw them, but at only 3 inches, they are too small for hot pads.

Hi Diane and Cheryl,

I'd say they are coasters, too. There was probably a little wooden stand with a dowel in the middle so they could be stacked up.

Thanks! I think I'll sell them as dollhouse rugs. I tried them in my granddaughter's and they looked really cute.
