I found a Billiken at a garage sale last week and listed it at 9.99. It is now up to $76.50 and I don't have a clue as to why. It is marked "St. Louis Court" and "81". Does anyone have any idea what is so special about this?....just curious!

Last time I was caught playing with my Billiken, my parents sent me to Father Flotsky for a good thrashing!

jtomp ... how did you even KNOW to CALL it a "billiken"???? .... it sure looks like you have found one of the highest priced ones on ebay though ... congrats for that, AND thank you for letting us know to keep on the lookout for these little 'avoid the noid' figurines! lol
googled search excerpt tells us: "Now, about the Billiken…The Billiken was a figurine appearing as a statuette or a bank, or on postcards. They were a huge national craze in about 1909-1910. The craze was similar to that of the "Cabbage Patch Kids" of the early 1980s or the "Kewpie Doll" craze which came and went in the 1930s. Just a silly thing…a brief but fun trend. The Billiken was a make-believe mythical god. He was "The God of Luckiness" or "The God of Things as They Ought To Be."

It's the mascot of the Order of the Jesters. Just search Order of the Jesters and you will see a lot of billikans. It is a masonic organization.

I forgot to add see how important it is to write everything that is written on an object in the description. If you would have just list Billikan probably your bids wouldn't have been so high but with St. Louis and the number that is probably what brought out all the bids.
Good For you, even though you didn't know what you had. If you would have posted here I could have told you but it looks like you scored big with the accurate ways you write your descriptions.
