I am back from vacation and busy shipping the 103 store sales I had while I was away. Before I left, I was rather put out that I couldn't just close my store while I was away but I am now rethinking that. What a nice surprise to find that I had sold so many items while not running a single auction for 3 weeks! Almost like a "paid" vacation LOL (well maybe not ALMOST - but better than NO sales)!

I posted notices every which way about my 2 week+ absence and so far haven't had any complaints about the delayed shipping (some sales and payments date back over 2 weeks.

We had a great time cruising! I have already booked for another one in February!

just curious...how many store listings did you have to generate that many sales?

I've noticed that store sales have dropped to almost nothing in the last month. Prior to that, things were selling very well.

I have about 3600 store listings ( postcards). My sales have been pretty steady since ebay opened up the search to include store items when not enough matches are found. I always thought that store traffic came mostly from auction links but that isn't necessarily so - I haven't really listed auctions since the FP sale day ending 7/15.

I am really happy with ebay stores - I've had 831 sales in 2 months. 3 weeks of that time I was on vacation too, and I was not happy that I could not close down my store! That is something ebay definitely needs to factor in here. What I did was write in the store description that I was away and all orders would be processed when I got back. I wasn't running any auctions for that time, and still had sales. Some were past customers, others just found me! I have about 1200 items listed right now, but have about another 3000 waiting to be added, just have to find the time to do so!

That's about 2.9% sellthrough for your Store for that period.

Or about 1 item sold for every 35 listed.

What are Stores "Good 'Til Sold" listings costing these days...2 cents? 4 cents? Can't remember.

They cost 2 cents plus 1 cent gallery if you use it. The most labor intensive part of my job is scanning, listing etc. I list cards, sometimes relist them (preferably during FLD or sale days) and then park them in the store 'til they sell. I figure store sales are bonus and don't worry about the "sell through" rate.

I was nervous about vacation though - worried about getting negs and panic-stricken emails from non-reading buyers but it turned out ok (knock on wood). Ebay is supposedly working on a way to turn the stores "on and off"

You may not be worrying about sellthrough rate.

But others may want to evaluate this opportunity.

Examining the stats is one way to decide whether or not parking thousands of listings in a Store is worth all the work it entails.

It's also a way for other Stores sellers to compare their sales to yours.

Hi neglus welcome back, nice to hear you had an enjoyable time. 2 straight weeks without ebay did you miss it? You did the wisest thing, instead of thinking of booking another cruise or saying we should do this again you went ahead and took action and booked it good for you.

Thanks Reenie!

Iare - maybe "sell through" during vacation should not be used to measure much. I have more store sales over the same period when I run auctions too. I posted "away" notices all over the place and they may have discouraged some buyers.
