Thanks to those who helped with my previous message to interpret email from a newbie Brazilian buyer. I sent all the details about Bidpay, and this is the reply I got this morning.
YOU IT STILL DID NOT RECEIVE MY PAYMENT? PERHAPS HOW IT SAID I AM WITH DIFFICULTIES....POR YOU WOULD NOT ACCEPT TO CHANGE FOR SOME ANOTHER MAGAZINE OF ITS INTEREST? I WAIT REPLY.
It seems as if she thinks if I exchange the magazine for another, that she will be able to pay! I must be reading to wrong.

She is said that you have not received her payment yet and that she is having difficulties. Yes, she did ask if she could change to a different magazine.

Guess I'll have to explain that paying for one magazine will be just the same as paying for another!!

YOU ALREADY IT RECEIVED SOME PAYMENT FOR THIS PROCESS? I WAIT REPLY

at a translating site it says it means 'register', so he is being redundant ...

I see at the bidpay website is a place for him to ask questions ... maybe direct him to that page.

Good idea AintRichYet I don't think they read English, I think that is part of the problem.

Hi all,

Amber, it sounds like she's still trying to make payment.

Just a suggestion, when you prepare your reply to her, write it out in English, then translate it to Portugese.

Put the Portugese text in again and translate it back to English. Then you'll have a better idea what the Portugese meaning will be.

I know this sounds a little convoluted but I've had to re-work messages so they said what I actually meant.

Here's an example:

English: Thank you for letting me know you are trying to pay for the magazine.

Translated to Portugese: Obrigado deixando me saber que você está tentando pagar pelo compartimento.

Translated back to English: Debtor leaving to know me that you are trying to pay for the compartment.

The word magazine retranslates as compartment and thank you comes through as debtor.

Maybe all you can do is send this message and hope for the best:

English: I understand you are having a problem paying the money. I will wait.

Portugese: Eu compreendo que você está tendo um problema pagar o dinheiro. Eu esperarei.

Back to English: I understand that you are having a problem to pay the money. I will wait.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Lucy

Thanks Lucy. Where do I get the Portugese translation? I would like to say "just forget it", a lot of hassle for a $2.99 magazine, but I don't have the heart to do it, she's trying hard to work it out.

Maybe you could ask her to write what she means to say in Portuguese and we can try to translate..between all of the great minds here I'll bet we can figure it out. Perhaps there is even a Brazilian lurker around . I was an exchange student in Brasil way back when but don't even pretend to be fluent now.

On the other hand, are we talking big $ here? I have accepted PayPal from Brazilian buyers without problems. If the chargeback (if there were one) won't kill you, PayPal with its "PayNow" button may be the way to go.

Aurghh! ... I got THIS one in this morning's emails ... rotsaruck to me! (it's regarding an 90$ trombone.

"hello, the following one is for indicating to him that I am interested in his I articulate, the detail is that I am of peru, podria to make an exception in envio."
---
I am assuming they want permission to bid, because {most of} my auctions state U.S. only bidders.

yikes, now I check his feedback and bidding records ... he has 0 feedback, is high bidder on 37 items (all are trombones, 2 computers, and a trumpet) since he became a member in mid-july!,; 14 of them are 'done' auctions.

I think I'll just tell him "no, you have enough trombones comin', imho" ... LOL!

Amber - It really sounds like she is trying but is encountering some kind of glitch when she tries to pay. Couldn't you make an exception and direct her to PayPal? It sounds to me like she is asking for you to come up with another way for her to pay. The Brasilians kiss and hug all the time
