I am looking at selling about $3000 of video equipment to a guy who "supposedly" owns an electronics store in Nigeria. Do I.....stay away from this completely? Or is there a safe way to get money from this person? This is off my website, not eBay. (sorry, I just don't know who else to ask)
Any advice would be gladly accepted. Thanks...

I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole but, if you do decide to go ahead, here's my recommendation:

Cash, US dollars, in your hot little hands, before you even THINK about shipping.

Lucy is right. There is only ONE alternate method of payment you should even consider:
Cash, US dollars, in your hot little hands, before you even THINK about shipping.

Did he contact you through Sprint relay service? That is a service MUTE persons use to talk to live people. This is a huge scam running through the auto dealership parts departments right now. They ask for huge quantities of items. Then they give you a credit card number and insist upon that you run it ASAP. This is so they can get the charge through before the rightful owner of the card discovers that the number has been hijacked.
Anything related to Lagos Nigeria should be steered clear of. It is fraud.

I agree. Nigeria is notorious as the spawning ground for Internet fraud.

I'd tell them they have to send cold hard cash or nothing doing. And even then I'd check the bill with one of those special pens that detect forgeries before shipping the items!

stone....nope...just through my email at my website. I think I'll just not respond anymore to him unless he emails again. Then, I'll ask for cash. Thanks everyone...

Do not even accept what you believe to be a cashiers check as Nigeria is infamous for forging them. If they send cash I would check it carefully to be sure its not conterfeit.
