Yesterday I was in line at the post office as usual, behind a fellow Ebay seller, They told me that USPS has discontinued the Priority Mail adhesive tape (the kind you put in a tape gun, like the clear stuff.)
After double checking on the Postal Store website, sure enough, it no longer appears there as an available shipping supplies item. Sigh, one more freebie down the tubes. I guess USPS just got tired of people using it on everything BUT Priority Mail boxes, and this is the price we pay. I also checked around the "news" links on the Postal Store site and the USPS main site, and could find no comment at all as to why they discontinued it.
I know that without the free tape and other supplies from USPS when I got started on Ebay over 3 years ago as a part time seller, I might not have ever made it to full time selling. We were on less than a shoestring then and the free packaging supplies from USPS helped a ton. I just hope this isn't a precident of things to come.
In other news, they are considering (proposing) two different sized flat rate Priority boxes. Will have to wait and see how that's going to work.

Is this a real loss though. It was cheap very thin tape that really didn't work very well for keeping boxes sealed. About the only thing it was really good for was marking boxes for priority.

My post office has tons of it. The guy that ordered their supplies ordered a five year supply?? Picked up 7 or 8 rolls the other day and the clerk said I could get more anytime.
But your right - no longer available online.
