Is there anyone out there that will be in Vegas next week for the ASD/AMD show? Just wondering if any fellow ebay/vendio posters will be there. I will be in Vegas to see my new grandbaby and would like to stop and see everything, or at least some of it. I'm sure to see everything would take a couple of days, which I don't have.
One email said it will be at the Mirage Convention Center and another said Las Vegas Convention Center. Will it be at various places? Anyone know?

We won't be there but have been in the past. This show is HUGE and covers several convention centers.
Getting in is free if you can show a business check or letterhead, etc. The jewelry is at the Mirage (I think) and when we were there, ass't stuff was at the Sands convention center - I think it is still called that - and a couple other places.
I believe Fluffy said a long time ago, that she was going.
They are not supposed to sell merchandisde off the floor but alot do on the last day. That way they don't have to cart it home!
Best way we found was to get the booklet and spend some time looking through it finding stuff you are interested in and then visit those booths. You will walk plenty others getting to them. We also take a pull along case for all the literature and samples.
It is the best. The Feb show in NYC doesn't even come close to it.
Have fun, hope you are able to meet up with some other board folks. Louise

I don't have a business check or letterhead but I do have my state tax number certificate. How much do they generally charge? Thanks for your input. Great idea for the literature.

It is totally free for buyers/business owners. I think the vendors pay up the wazuuuuuu.
If you have a business name, take an invoice from someone you deal with or some other document. They are there to get as many people in as possible but not just folks in off the street either. So a little doocumentation will help alot.
Pretend you were in town and didn't know they were going to be there and you really want in and that is all you have with you and you are really anxious to take the next step in expansion and you reeeeelllllyyyyy need to meet some new suppliers!!! You get the jist. LOL

Can you seriously find something there if there are many other Ebayers doing the same thing as you, scouting for a great deal???

Hi...a good show, but we've found the Hong Kong Directory much effective. Many of the vendors there are listed, plus 1000s more...email addresses, contacts, excellent pricing for everything from tiffany style lamps, jewelry, toys, ornaments, even fire extinguishers.
Have a nice time...

There is more to see than the merchandise to resell. Besides, I'm nosy and want to see what the trends are like seeing what is hot and the colors they are pushing. A lot of the vendors are geared toward the dollar stores/flea markets.
But there are so many gizmos and gadgets, there has to be some things that will sell well on eBay.
We do street fairs and state fairs too, so we have been able to get merchadise to sell at those venues as well.

I'll be there. We're leaving today (I hope) and taking a couple of days to travel. Show opens Sunday.
They are not supposed to sell merchandisde off the floor but alot do on the last day.
I'm not sure but I think this might have changed. I thought I saw in the program guide or some other material that vendors are allowed to make direct sales from their booths now. I'll quote the relevant passage if I find it.
The booths are generally so tiny, though, that the norm is for bulk orders to be shipped days (or more likely weeks) after the show.
This year's show in conjunction with the jewelry show at the Mirage covers, what, 3 or 4 convention centers. We don't intend to attempt the whole thing. That would be courting burnout. But I hope to find chessguy.

Depends on what you're looking for, but yeah, you sure can find things there.
The point (at least to me) is making contacts. You see some stuff you like, you order some, it arrives, it goes like gangbusters, and you re-order.
Or you don't re-order, because you miscalculated and it died a quick death on eBay. Oh well.
But assuming it did well, that's how you set up vendor relationships and that's how you get offered deals, down the line, like salvage, overstock or damaged goods. Some sellers believe that's where the profit lies.
Believe me when I tell you that going to these shows is the quickest and most efficient way to get in touch with dozens, maybe hundreds of vendors who have goods you might want. I've been all over the Web. I've read the trade publications. There is no substitute for the shows.

Thanks for the url iareateacher. I think the only free time I can go is the last day they are open. This is such a rush trip with so many people to see and all. Hopefully I can find a couple of new suppliers. Thanks again!
