Hi, all. Retired friends of ours are moving, and the lady asked me to find out what this vase is worth. I\'ve posted pictures here; they are pictures of her pictures, not the real thing.
The vase is 18\" tall. It has the mark \"KPM\" and a cross (or Maltese cross) in a rectangle, all in red outline and about 1/2\" square. Her mother, long deceased owned this for many years. Any help with the mark itself? And any guesses as to worth? (If I know what the mark means, I can do some research too, of course!)

What a great Piece! It's Berlin, Germany, made, the KPM mark was used by several manufacturers over a couple of hundred years. The only way to date it is by comparing the mark to examples that the different companies used. Unfortunately, I don't have a book of marks on foreign pottery and porcelain. No matter which manufacturer made it, it has some real value.

Thanks, y'all!
Does anyone have a dictionary of marks? I'd love to have an idea how old this vase is.

Great site, stop. I cannot read German, but you've got to love the blue and white vase! Then again, I'm partial to blue and white anything.

Cheryl, off topic but. . . . since you like blue and white. I have 6 pottery dessert plates, not fine china!, which I got here in town, made I think by a local potter. They are in a wannabe flow-blue style, very pretty, and would be great go-withs for blue and white china etc. When I list them, would you like me to let you know?
