Maybe I need Sanmar for this one. At the estate sale I helped out at, they had almost a complete set of Noritake - Belmont dated 1953 per Replacements website. I noticed that they didnt have all of the set. I sent an email asking if they wanted to buy it. They said no and their reason was:
" There may be pieces we do not have but until we sell some of our inventory we can not make offers for more pieces. This could change in the future."

Do they ususally buy more during certain times of the year ? Obviously they don't have all of this pattern to sell. Any suggestions?

Do they also buy some of the higher end silver plate too? My friends have a few complete sets of that stuff too.

I never went to them direct, though I know some on the board do. I gather they scout ebay as well and buy what they want pretty cheap for resale. they may have customers put in requests and then try to offer it to them when they get it?

The message doesn't seem ambiguous at all. Obviously they have way more of this pattern in stock than they believe will be purchased any time soon.

This is telling you something: It's a common pattern and not much in demand.

Thanks Sanmar, that the info I needed. That's ok because there is an entire set for 12 with about 5 serving platters. Too bad they don't want to buy it from me. any thoughts on this Sanmar?
