Well its over. I have decided the best course of action here is to complete the first (mistake) transaction. This pin is going to sunny California at NO CHARGE to her, I have asked that she not Paypal me again.

My decision was based on some of your opinions and the bidders cause. Here is a copy of her email

"This listing was of particular interest because I'm
part of a small group of Red Cross volunteers on eBay
who try to "rescue" as many of these Nurse Enrollment
Badges as we can (at our own expense) to return to
National HQ, which is where they're supposed to go
unless buried with the nurse"

Here's a website with
some more info:

http://collectarc.com/nursebadge.html

Thanks for the input on this one people....

All I can say is...WOW. I didn't know that they were not supposed to go out to the public. Learned a lot (about other sellers) with your original question. Sounds like everything turned out good in the end. IMHO

Congratulations! I think you did a good thing, no - a great thing! Not only because you made the right "eBay" decision, but also because you made the right decision for this customer and this PIN is going home where it belongs!

Pretty interesting information - thanks for posting the website info!

The women's organization PEO wants their pins back, too. This may be a common thing in clubs and groups. . . .

What a nice thing to do!

Hey ... I just remembered that Red Cross is a VeRO member. Had she pushed it, she might've gotten your auction shut down.

micmic66, I think its great what your doing.

Am I reading this wrong, but are they auctioning off those pins (well I see a couple pins that may be similiar to yours) right on their site? Maybe I read it wrong, but first they say they are property of The Red Cross, then I find this?

I found this through your link, where it says to Go Back

NTS, you would have to open that can of worms. LOL>>>>

So, are they reselling them? Thought they were going to go with the dead nurses? YOu still did right micmic. Maybe the resale of some of them allows them to buy more important ones?

What a crock of hypircrates.(sp) THEY should be turned into VERO!!!!! All those federal laws they touted and then,,,,,to see them for SALE!!!!! Burn em' and turn em'........Some,,,,,,Not many, are VERY Official!!!!! the bigger sewn on ones...they ARE Official!!!!!!! No difference here than listing a police badge or a common private security badge.(and those will get pulled as soon as a baby turns them in.that back to the dead Nurses er opened a BIG can O' worms in this sellers mind.

Nearthesea, Thanks for pointing that out.

Anyone could go into a disaster area wearing those Big sew ons and pass as REAL RED Coss worker. and ransack.

Good for you micmic - warm fuzzy feelings far outweigh the potential money you lost on this transaction ( seems to me you should be able to take it as a charitable deduction on your taxes too so maybe not a total loss). Very nice of you!
