I think it will affect eBay by reducing the amount of expendable income the average family has. I spend so much on gasoline at almost $2 per gallon that there's not much left for anything else! Add the cost per barrel to the fact that Ohio just added more tax to gasoline and the incredible loss of jobs, you've got a real problem in this area.

I don't think this will be a great eBay Christmas season at all unless things change in a real hurry.

Hi Cheryl...I think you're right. All petroleum based products (plastics, etc), fuel, electric, etc...will nick away at disposable income.
What a mess (nothing polical intented)

All petroleum based products

It is not just what is directly made from petroleum that will be effected.

All goods and services are effected too. Petroleum prices effect the cost of shipping goods and the cost of delivering services.

This situation is turning into the late 1970s early 1980s all over again.

Hi Reamond...yes, you're right...we show our age..but I remember waiting in lines and then could only pump $10.00 worth.
At this point, I don't think the administration (no politics intended) can do much...republican or democrat (okay)
thanks

I think it is time to buy 100 gallons in plastic cans. I did that just before the big push in 73. I did it before both gulf wars, now I think it is time to do it again this next week or so.

I guess my view may be a little different. I think people may be more incline to sit at home and point and click for a good deal, rather than drive their gas hog around shopping all day long for one item. Real life auctions have always done better in times of inflation. I remain optimistic.

Food ,water, shelter and SEX!, Sex sells, so that makes this e bay related.
