I just purchased a Victorian Sofa and was researching for a value on it. I ran across the term laminated sofa but I don't really know how to tell what this is? John Henry Belter used this and his stuff is very expensive. Can anyone explain what this term means and how to recognize it?

Oh, how to recognize it?
Unfortunately, there are some obvious signs of laminated wood, or should I say delaminated wood in antique furniture. It's common to see the top veneer starting to peel away or bubble.

If it's Belter it will be VERY elaborate in shape and carving. Post a pic of your sofa
and I'm certain many of us here can tell you whether or not it's Belter.

Bob it's not that elaborate but is very well carved. Hey a girl can dream - can't she???
The wood just looks so pretty - and almost like it's coated or something. I'll try to get the photo soon
