Yes, I have dialup; not a problem anywhere else on the internet for me. Can zip around from place to place; search, read....no problems with speed as far as I'm concerned; works fast enough for me.
But EVERYTHING I try to do as far as ebay is concerned is so slow that I just don't understand what could be wrong at least on my end of things. I've tried disabling my firewall, disabling my pop-up blocker, all kinds of things to try to make ebay work a bit faster and nothing helps. I've given up trying to do any buying on ebay as it's too frustrating trying to find an auction that I want to bid on that closes in less than one hour! It seems to take that long to download and read the whole auction! (may be exaggerating a bit there).
Also ANY auction that uses 'ebay image hosting' most times never does completely download the pics in total. I am really stumped as to why this is. Anyone else having similar problems? Any ideas?

Yes, it can be slower. Just wait.
eBay is slow for people on dialup (and some people who aren't) because it has crammed its pages full of all kinds of crap that doesn't add value for its users.
Every time your browser has to make another connection to load another page component, it takes time. eBay's pages contain many calls to non-eBay sites (mediaplex, doubleclick, etc.) which only makes the problem worse.
Sensible and responsible management would realize that you design pages for the lowest-common-denominator customer: those still on dialup. This guideline usually gets tossed out the window, though, in the name of revenue enhancement.
