I remember an earlier thread about US sellers listing on eBay UK. Since my old search no longer works I am going to ask for a recap, please. My sister wants to list a piece of Chelsea Pottery of a type that is selling for a nice price on eBay UK. If she lists it on eBay US and checks that she will sell worldwide will the exposure in the UK be about the same as registering to sell on eBay UK? I know my searches bring up UK listings all the time and I have won quite a number of things that were shipped from England.
What, if any, are the advantages to making it a UK listing? If it will get much more exposure do you have to register as a new user with UK? I went to the UK site but did not find any answers to my questions.
Thanks for any feedback. -----o----o----o----o----o----o----o----o

No problem when listing eBay will ask you which countries are you willing to ship to. Just follow the directions!

I think if you list directly on the eBay UK site (log on to eBay UK, and make a listing from there), your item will have better visability on the UK site. Might get better results if selling British Widgets, or other items of special interest to those in the UK.

You do not have to reregister to list to the UK site - just go to the site, click on sell and proceed as usual. The advantages are
1) Infintitely better exposure to UK buyers. Contrary to many people who will try to tell you differently, simply saying that you ship to the UK does not make your auctions visable to the brits. The default search method for the uk site is Items Located IN the UK. You US site listed item will not show up to UK users unless they change the search perameters.
2) Favorable exchange rates mean higher ending bids.
The big thing I will suggest is going to the UK site and do searches of similar items. Note is there are different terms or spellings that are specific to the UK.
Good luck with your piece. I do aboout 80% of my sales right now specifically to the UK site.

Fenix and Sthoemke,
Thanks I felt that this pottery and some little toys I am listing would do better in the UK but did not think we had enough to justify registering with the UK site. I saw an auction for a related item that was on eBay UK but had a price in US $. I could not find anything in the help on listing on other sites.
Maybe we should get brave and give it a try. -----o----o----o----o----o----o----o----o

If you want to list thru vendio can you do this as well OR do you have to list with the ebay software? Thanks for the info ... interesting. I buy ALOT of stuff on ebay UK but never thought about directing my sales there as well.

If listing on eBay UK, be sure to clearly explain shipping costs in your auction, as some bidders may not relize that you are shipping from the United States.

Not quite. Your listing will show up, but it will be in a different section after the listings generated on the UK site. You can list directly on the UK site and the fees will convert automatically. You may want to use a Euro conversion program so you can figure out how much to list items for.
