BTW, the title should be Sil. not Sill. Too bad you can't alter titles. LOL!
I know I've seen this before, but I can't place it. The locket is marked 925 and then a G inside of a diamond. Can anyone help me out here real quick with perhaps a maker? Thanks!

I found a small g inside a sideways diamond - stands for J.M.G. Manufacturers & Polishers, Inc. - first used in 1962?
If it's from another country - I have another book that list other than USA makers?

This is an uppercase G inside an elongated diamond. The pendant has an embossed snake on the front so it could be from another country. The only thing I know for sure it that it's old. Boy, that sure helps. LOL!

Do you think it could be Victorian? They used snakes a lot? I checked my other book but I didn't find anything there.

For what it's worth, here are some pics. It looks like a cobra on the front.
The mark is tiny. I can't believe I got it to photograph.

Hey Cheryl
That's the same diamond but with a small "g" so you may want to check that maker out.
I don't think it's Victorian - but 60's?? could be I guess. Wasn't there some Rock group that used Cobra for an album cover or something.
What's the saying "if you remember the 60's - you weren't really there"??? lol

yes they were the "cobras"--they had a hit
called "Little GTO" and one member "bruce johnston" went on to become a member of the beach boys

It's not 60's. That much I know. This was my greatgrandmother's (although I suspect by the style and size it may have been more likely my greatgrandfather's) who died in the early 1960's. It could be Indian or Egyptian as well since both cultures used cobras a lot. My grandfather was from Germany so it could have come from anywhere.
I tried searching through the US Trademark office but what a job! I even went over the o-ring with a loupe (I'm now bug-eyed). The o-ring is completely sealed, meaning there's no opening on it. The only way you could lose the pendant is if the chain broke. I didn't even know it was a locket at first because the hinge is so well hidden. Just may be one of those things I'll never know.

Repousse! That was the word I was looking for!

is this the mark?

edited to add: your image appears to maybe have the corners' beaded-like the drawing; and realize i am trying to compare a pencil drawing reference to your small image..

Nope. It's an elgonated triange with a large letter G inside. Geesh, they could have been a bit more creative with their trademark.

No, myold toy, there's no beading on it. The fact that it's relatively plain leaves me to believe it may be a man's locket.

How about a watch fob - emblem pendant for some fraternal organization? Did you goggle cobra and see what that does? What is the size? I look in another book on Victorian design and it just may date to that time - maybe 1890 up to 1920 - they made a lot of pendant like this in the 1940's too.

Could this be an old mark for Gorham? 925 is a mark for the silver content, of course you already knew that.

I have a book on sterling marks and checked Gorham but didn't see this one. Of course they used tons of marks and my book may not have them all?
