We almost got hit! I saw the funnel heading directly almost at the house!

Pray! it's going to be a long night!

I'd like power back too but there's already been two deaths here due to tornado's. One was a block from here.

Thanks!

Yes glassgirl - hang in there. Find a safe place and just hunker down until it passes. I was in Andrew and survived, so you can too. Will pray for you too.

we have a battery operated tv and radio and of course my laptop.

that was just so scary seeing that funnel cloud come at us blowing up the transformers on the way.

the funnel turned BLUE! I thought it was a waterspout over the gulf and then all of the sudden it was coming towards us!

Here's the NWS home page for Mobile. Check out the predicted winds for tonight and tomorrow. Also, click on the radar image. The eye of Ivan is fully visible now.

Glassgrl...How do you take cover from a tornado when there's also a hurricane? I doubt if a basement would be safe. I never really gave it that much thought until now.

yes we're in Panama City Beach and FREAKING OUT! I know McJane is going to give me hell!

I was sitting on the back porch this afternoon when the sky got "funny looking". You know how they always say that? It's true! I ran upstairs and saw the funnel cloud over the gulf forming. My DH was asleep and I woke him up, only to watch it coming AT us!

I hear on the radio that Ivan is wobbling to the EAST! NO!!!

It's going to be a long night! We only have local TV on the battery tv. They only said Ivan is wobbling to the east and they are so busy reporting on tornados STILL!

No basement but have a downstairs bathroom.

I'll keep checking in.

I thought this would be no sweat because it was not close to us. I never reckoned on the tornadoes!

As a native Floridian, I understand what you're going through. As long as your computer is up, we'll help get you through this with info and advice. At the moment it looks like Ivan is wobbling right.....but not far enough right to be a life threatening danger for you....but it's still too early to tell where it will wind up, and what the water level will be for you. Tell me.....how high above sea level are you?

I am watching this storm unfold on CNN - they said Ivan is about 65 miles offshore but the reporters are being nearly blown over by the fierce winds.

It's almost hard to believe that these things happen - just to see them predicting it and then watching it happen.

I'm praying for everyone in it's path.

You bet I'm going to give you HELL. What are you two doing home, why didn't you leave. We are being told Ivan is a weak catagory 4 or a strong catagory three & either way very, very dangerous 135 to 150 MPH winds with the worse to come later tonight.
Right now, on the news, they are talking about Panama City & the tornados. Good lord, how close can it get.
Just heard the storm may be weakening a bit, good news, but don't let your guard down.

With all the prayers being offered here, Ralphie's too, I just know you will be safe, but don't take chances like this again. If you need help during a storm it just isn't available, believe me I know.

Take precautione, stay away from the windows
& stay on line if you can, above all...stay safe my friend.

Jane

Glassgrl, How ya doing? It looks like the tornado warnings in your county and the 3 counties east of you have expired for now, but you're still under a tornado watch and a hurricane warning. Hang in there, we're pulling for ya!

12 years ago, my wife had a sister in Maitland, we were living in Raleigh & ready to retire. We went to FL on a weeks vacation, down the east coast to Palm Beach then over to the west coast, looking for the perfect spot. Well, between the bugs & the heat & humidity, we negged that idea. My wife has passed away & I live in Santa Maria, CA. We have NO bugs & a very mild climate. We haven't a measureable rainfall since May. Our highest temp was last week at 91 degrees, our low last winter was 29. This may not be Eden, but its close. We don't have hurricanes, tornados or thunderstorms. We are not on a fault line so this valley has never had a destructive earthquake. If you can beat this, let mje know.

Dear Lord, please keep her and her generous self, SAFE!! ... looks like the eye is coming over to the west of her area right now, so she is getting hit with the hard side of the storm ... gosh, i wish she had evacuated.
