My home was hit by two major hurricanes, one on Aug 13th (Charley) and the second on Sep. 4th (Frances). Over 12 hours of constant winds of 100+ MPH, Frances dumping over 16” of rain on us. Our postoffice has had no doors since Aug 13th, then Frances took out most of their windows.

To try to operate an online business is trying enough during these times. And for the most part my customers are very understanding. However I have now had TWO JERKS! Both from Massachusetts, why are people from Massachutsetts total JERKS????

The first customers order was sent 4 days after receiving payment as our postoffice was closed and not accepting mail for 4 days after hurricane Charley. The customer was sending my nasty mail, I explained the situation with the hurricane. He told me I was the hurricane as an excuse and told me to F myself.

Second customer ordered item, paid for it on Aug 12th, one day before Hurricane Charley. Actually we were ordered to evaucate on Aug 12th so we weren’t even home when payment was received. His order was shipped via UPS on Aug 17th. Couple weeks later she emailed me saying it never arrived. After checking with UPS they said it was routed incorrectly then lost, UPS had no problem in paying the insurance claim, then we shipped another item to the customer. Now I get a nasty gram from that customer tell me that I’m a lier as there was no hurricane on Aug 12! Again, this customer too is from Massachusetts.

I’m about to put a notice in all my eBay listing and websites saying I refuse to deal with people in Massachusetts, would that be legal?

Bill

You are free to do anything you like. It is mind bending when you run across people like that in your situation.

I would put them on your block bidder list so you never have to deal with them again. Every state seems to have its "winners" so its not just this one.

Other sellers all have their favorite state that for whatever reason they have the most problems with. For me its Florida as they seem to whine the most.

You did neg them both right?

I can put up with a lot of garbage, but when someone actually uses the term 'liar' or 'fraud' my patience ends.

Sorry to hear about the jerks you've been dealing with. People don't seem to be too understanding when it comes to having to wait for something. Have you visited Massachusetts? We spend lots of time in and around Mass. - we live in Maine and camp out-of-state quite a bit. People in Mass. don't like to wait even a minute for anything. No, I'm not saying all parts of Mass. but in the city, forget about it. Why do you think they call them "Massholes"?

No offense to the "good" people of Massachusetts, yep...got family down there. They even call they jerky ones Massholes.

A lot of people have no clue how hard people are having it in Florida from these storms. And a lot of the people who got hit the hardest had never been throught anything like that before. It will be a year before they start getting enough inventory back in the stores to supply everybody. I have family down there I talk to everyday.

"year before they start getting enough inventory back in the stores to supply everybody"

Excellent point. Even our local grocery stores and Walmart never got fully restocked from the first Hurricane back on Aug 13th (Charley). Then we had to stock up on batteries, water and food before Frances hit but the shelves were still bare from Charley....

To live through one hurricane is bad enough, but now that we've been hit hard by two in 3 weeks many residents are moving. In my sub-division 4 different houses went up forsale in the last few days....

Take what you see on TV news (CNN, etc) and multipuly it by a factor of 100 and that is what the real damaged and distruction is. Until you see it with your own two eyes you can't get a good idea of what it really is like. We have a huge Adams MArk motel on the beach here, probably about 400 rooms, they'll be closed until October, they just took delivery of $44,000 of new carpet to replace the wet carpet. Several motels no longer have roofs, you can look through the front windows and see right up to the sky... I've seen several trailer parks where not a single house trailer is left standing. In fact there were pieces of "house trailers" still on some of our large 4-lane roads from Hurricane Charley....it can take a year to clean up from one hurricane, but from two no-one knows....Then you have jerks who can't understand why it took a few extra days to ship their items.....go figure...

All my jerks are in New Jersey. I have good ones all over.

Do you want to hear a positive story? On April Fools Day, 2003 my brother had to have emergency by-pass surgery. I don't know what you 5, but he had 5 by-passes. 99% blockage. Anyway, my SIL had dozens of auctions ending. I e-mailed all her buyer and explained what was going on. And I promised that if she wasn't able within a few days I would put her packages together and mail them out. I was willing, but she sells things I don't know anything about and I was afraid I'd send the wrong thing to the wrong person.

Every one of them wrote back and were so nice. They all told me not to worry about it. To take care of my brother. He had to come first and that they were praying for him. So, you see, there are nice buyers out there.

Be kind. Everyone is fighting their own secret battles.

Hey! I am in NJ (well, at the moment CA). Jerks are all over. The problem with some people is ....... if it is not in their backyard they simply do not care what others are going through. One jerk off I know told me he is "tired" of all the hurricane coverage. He is also tired of his tax dollars being spent helping people with disaster relief. (this guy has never held a paying job in his life). I bet if his home was destroyed he would be demanding the goverement pay him for his loss.

I notice the same thing with 911. People complaining about the news coverage. I personally didn't know anyone who died but I did meet a lot of people who had lost friends and family. I dated a fireman and construction guy who were both on the scene. The stories they told me were bone chilling.

I am thinking of you (all the sellers who are in the hurricane area).

gtootie, I had sort of the same thing happen, cept my brother died shortly after the bi-pass surgery. I had a few auctions ending - and I just left out of here, and wasnt thinking about ebay or auctions at all!

The few w/b'ers I had were very kind about it when I wrote them. One guy got on like an a/hole...I need this right away, blah.blah. but when I told him why he calmed down and said he was sorry. I fed;ex'ed his disc's overnight to him. Only for the fact that I know people dont know whats going on with you, and I understood his frustration at needing something and expecting to have it by a certain time. But really, had he not changed his tune I dont know I would have completed the transaction at all. Would have just taken a deserved neg. [At that point, I didnt really give a sh**, as I was still shocked and grieving. I remember, I was just barely doing what I had to.] Lucky for me there was cushion room on the auction to ship it o/n to him even though it ate at my profit. - So he was happy he got it on time for his presentation or whatever and I completed my obligation to him. I cant remember what state he was from though...

Of course it is legal- why wouldn't it be? Sellers routinely say they do not ship to Alaska and Hiwaii-THEY ARE STATES! Also many eliminate Americans in the military no APO, and Puerto Rica, Guam and Virgin Islands are considered by most as "international sales"
These overseas U.S. Possession or U.S. Territory are the same rate as any other Domestic Mail-
YEP eliminating any state is entirely legal!

I've lived many places during me something-score,etc years, & I'd have to say that the most wonderful city I've ever lived in was: BOSTON!

Big city, but really composed of small distinct neighborhoods!

Impossible to get BORED in BOSTON!

Driving sucks! But, WHO CARES when ya have the "T" & can go just about anywhere??

No matter where I found myself, I always found folks to be kind & helphul (well, maybe NOT on RT 128...)

Other than PRICE of HOUSING, there ain't nothing I like about FL over MASS.

Course, my 1BR apt here in JAX would cost about $2000 in Boston, so me-N-Ralphie are stuck -- UNLESS WE WIN THE LOTTERY

NOT ALL(although most are) FROM MASS ARE DEMOCRATS AND CELTIC FANS-HOWEVER THE MASS PRESS (like CBS) IS VERY BIAS

(THIS IS ebAY RELATED TO HELP BILL DECIDE NOT TO ELIMINATE A STATE -HEHEHE )

Two boys in Boston were playing basketball when one of them was
attacked by a rabid Rottweiler. Thinking quickly, the other boy ripped a board off a near by fence, wedged it into the dog's collar and twisted it, breaking the dog's neck.
A newspaper reporter from the Boston Herald witnessed the incident and rushed over to interview the boy. The reporter began entering data into his laptop, beginning with the headline: "Brave Young Celtics
Fan Saves Friend From Jaws Of Vicious Animal."
"But I'm not a Celtics fan," the little hero interjected.
"Sorry,"replied the reporter. "But since we're in Boston, Mass, I just assumed you were."
Hitting the delete key, the reporter began "John Kerry Fan rescues Friend From Horrific Dog Attack." "But I'm not a Kerry fan either," the boy responds.
The reporter says, "I assumed everybody in this state was either for
the Celtics or Kerry or Kennedy. "What team or person do you like?"
"I'm a Houston Rockets fan and I really like George W. Bush" the boy
says.
Hitting the delete key, the reporter begins again, "Arrogant Little Conservative Ba*tard Kills Beloved Family Pet.."

JUST LIKE I SAID THE PRESS IS BIAS! PLEASE DO NOT ELIMINATE MASSACHUSETTS

You have the WRONG newspaper!
